Network Specialist II (Mid-Level)
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Specialist II to support the design, implementation, maintenance, & troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of routing, switching, network security, and troubleshooting methodologies while supporting mission-critical environments. This position requires the ability to work independently, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical support to customers and stakeholders.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Specialist II to support the design, implementation, maintenance, & troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of routing, switching, network security, and troubleshooting methodologies while supporting mission-critical environments. This position requires the ability to work independently, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical support to customers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
- Monitor network performance and availability using network management and monitoring tools.
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and security issues.
- Implement and maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN solutions.
- Support network upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh efforts.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with network architecture planning and recommend improvements to optimize performance and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, and operations teams to support enterprise IT initiatives.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem resolution activities.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior team members and end users as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Additional experience may be substituted for education.
- 3-7 years of experience supporting enterprise network environments.
- Active CompTIA Security+ certification (or ability to obtain within designated timeframe).
- Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco networking equipment.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), VLANs, STP, and network segmentation.
- Experience supporting network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and access control solutions.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience supporting government, defense, or highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, or Meraki platforms.
- Experience with Aruba wireless technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.
- Experience with network automation tools and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
- Additional certifications such as Cisco CCNP, Network+, Aruba certifications, or vendor-specific networking credentials.
- Active Secret clearance required
Compensation
- Salary: $55,000 - 65,000 **depending on experience**
- Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Plan, Holidays, PTO, sick leave as required by law
