Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end product design for mission applications and C2 platforms, from research and wireframes through high-fidelity prototypes and developer hand-off.
- Identify and define user goals, needs, and performance expectations by gathering requirements directly from product owners, operators, and program stakeholders.
- Produce user experience workflows, user-type definitions, and step-by-step interaction flows that clearly communicate product functionality.
- Create visual mockups, interactive prototypes, and design documentation in Figma and Sketch that align with customer needs and business goals.
- Build and maintain shareable design systems and component libraries that ensure consistency, scalability, and accuracy across teams.
- Collaborate early and often with cross-functional teams-product managers, engineers, and technical writers-to drive open discussion and rapid issue resolution.
- Host regular design reviews with internal and external stakeholders to share progress, gather feedback, and align on direction.
- Present UX findings and facilitate design conversations with senior client and company leadership.
- Mentor junior designers, guide onboarding and curriculum, and help grow the team through interviewing and hiring.
- Support business development and demos by creating prototypes, concept visuals, and product playbooks that showcase value and differentiators.
- Integrate AI tools into the design and software development lifecycle to optimize workflows, analyze user insights, and accelerate delivery.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of professional UI/UX or product design experience, including demonstrated design leadership.
- Expert proficiency in Figma and Sketch, with a strong portfolio spanning wireframes, flows, prototypes, and shipped interfaces.
- Proven experience leading the full product design lifecycle, from discovery and research through implementation and developer hand-off.
- Experience designing for complex, data-dense, or operational environments (e.g., command-and-control, enterprise, or edge computing applications).
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining design systems and reusable component libraries.
- Strong understanding of front-end development practices and Agile frameworks, with the ability to collaborate closely with engineering.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience presenting to and building rapport with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring designers and directing the work of a design team.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supporting U.S. Government, DoD, or Intelligence Community programs.
- Familiarity integrating AI/LLM tools (e.g., Claude Code) into design and development workflows.
- Experience designing for defense customers.
- Background producing prototypes and concept visuals to support business development, demos, and sales.
- Graphic design and brand/communications experience across digital and print media.
