Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Systems Engineer SME to support a DoD program based in Newington, VA. This position is a full-time role that will be fully onsite. This position is critical in delivering scalable, secure, and mission-aligned enterprise IT capabilities within a high-visibility government environment. As a Systems Engineer SME, you will play a pivotal role in guiding engineering efforts, aligning technical solutions with mission requirements, and ensuring seamless transition of capabilities into sustained operations.

As a Systems Engineer SME, you will play a pivotal role in guiding engineering efforts, aligning technical solutions with mission requirements, and ensuring seamless transition of capabilities into sustained operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interact with the PMO and Customer leadership to align requirements and capability delivery across the program lifecycle
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to identify and close operational gaps, ensuring solutions remain sustainable post-transition
- Apply systems engineering principles to design, implement, and document enterprise solutions
- Develop robust build guides, architecture diagrams, and data flow diagrams to enable successful transition to operations teams
- Lead requirements development efforts and guide projects of varying size through a defined engineering lifecycle
- Support enterprise infrastructure environments spanning compute, storage, transport, and end-user services
- Contribute to ICAM, Active Directory, PKI, and policy-driven enterprise services
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, including training system administrators on deployed capabilities
- Conduct market research and support technology evaluation efforts to enhance enterprise platforms
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related discipline
- 15+ years of enterprise IT experience
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- Security+ certification
Required Technical Skills:
- Active Directory services (GPO, DNS, etc.)
- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) - Microsoft and non-Microsoft solutions
- Automation tools and frameworks (Ansible Automation Platform, DevOps pipelines, PowerShell)
- Enterprise visibility and ICAM solutions
- Infrastructure domains (compute, storage, transport)
- Operating systems: Windows and Linux
- Systems engineering processes and requirements analysis
- Computer and user policy management
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to clearly document architectures, solutions, and processes
- Experience training and enabling system administrators on new capabilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex enterprise environments
Preferred Skills:
- Active Directory operations and troubleshooting
- Log analysis and troubleshooting
- Advanced requirements analysis experience
