Job Description

Platform Operations Engineer

Remote

SRG is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer to manage the infrastructure, deployment, security, compliance, and operational environments supporting mission applications, enterprise platforms, data services, and analytical capabilities. This individual will be responsible for ensuring secure, stable, scalable, resilient, and compliant environments capable of supporting government and defense operations.

The Platform Operations Engineer will work across development, operations, cybersecurity, and program teams to establish, maintain, and continuously improve production and mission environments. This role will work closely with mission systems engineers, software developers, cybersecurity personnel, client stakeholders, and the Alpha Development Team to support the transition of new capabilities from development into secure operational environments.

Because SRG’s clients place significant importance on trusted data, this role will also help ensure that infrastructure, platform services, and operational environments support data governance, data lineage, data provenance, metadata management, auditability, and compliance requirements. The Platform Operations Engineer will help maintain the technical foundation needed for secure, traceable, and reliable data flows across mission systems and enterprise platforms.

Position Responsibilities
Manage production infrastructure, operational environments, cloud resources, networking components, and supporting platform services.
Deploy, configure, maintain, and monitor enterprise applications and mission-supporting services.
Monitor platform availability, capacity, performance, reliability, and operational health.
Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls, access controls, cybersecurity best practices, and operational safeguards.
Support cybersecurity, accreditation, compliance, Risk Management Framework, and governance activities.
Manage cloud resources, networking components, environment configurations, storage services, identity services, and platform dependencies.
Support deployment automation, DevSecOps processes, infrastructure-as-code practices, and release management activities.
Coordinate software releases, production rollouts, and operational transitions of new capabilities from the Alpha Development Team.
Support transition of new capabilities from development, test, or staging environments into production, mission, or classified environments.
Implement and maintain platform capabilities that support data governance, metadata management, lineage tracking, provenance, auditing, and compliance monitoring.
Ensure infrastructure and operational environments support auditable, secure, and traceable data flows across mission systems, data services, analytical platforms, and AI-enabled capabilities.
Support governance controls related to data storage, retention, access management, lifecycle management, backup, recovery, and archival requirements.
Develop and maintain backup, recovery, continuity, resilience, and disaster recovery procedures.
Maintain configuration management documentation, system inventories, operational baselines, metadata repositories, and environment documentation.
Identify opportunities to improve scalability, reliability, automation, security, compliance, cost efficiency, and operational performance.
Troubleshoot infrastructure, platform, deployment, network, security, and environment-related issues.
Communicate technical status, risks, dependencies, recommendations, and operational impacts to program leadership, technical teams, and client stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizen with an active Secret security clearance and Top-Secret eligibility.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
Experience administering enterprise infrastructure, cloud-based environments, hybrid environments, or mission-critical operational platforms.
Strong understanding of networking, system administration, cybersecurity, identity and access management, and infrastructure management principles.
Experience supporting operational deployments, production systems, enterprise platforms, or mission-critical environments.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or similar technologies.
Experience implementing security controls, infrastructure management practices, operational baselines, and compliance-supporting processes.
Understanding of data governance, data lineage, data provenance, metadata management, data lifecycle management, and data protection concepts.
Ability to support platform services and infrastructure that enable secure, auditable, and traceable data operations.
Strong ability to communicate in writing and orally with teammates, leadership, technical staff, and clients.
Ability to work effectively with mission systems engineers, software developers, cybersecurity personnel, support teams, and the Alpha Development Team.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
Experience supporting Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, federal government, or mission-focused programs.
Familiarity with Risk Management Framework processes, accreditation activities, cybersecurity compliance, and secure system operations.
Experience with DevSecOps methodologies, automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.
Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical, or classified operational environments.
Experience supporting enterprise data governance platforms, metadata repositories, data catalogs, data management tools, or audit logging solutions.
Familiarity with DoD Data Strategy, Data Fabric, Data Mesh, Zero Trust, enterprise data architecture, or responsible AI infrastructure concepts.
Experience supporting AI-enabled, analytics, decision-support, or data-intensive operational platforms.
Experience implementing monitoring, logging, alerting, auditing, backup, and recovery tools in secure environments.
