The hourly range for this position is $18.00 to $24.00. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education and training, job-related knowledge and skills, the scope and level of responsibility of the position, internal equity, and market/business considerations. Job Summary:
The Fabrication technician will fabricate parts and perform aircraft sheet metal and composite repairs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Utilize detailed blueprints to layout pieces to be fabricated and installed.
- Layout and fabricate aircraft parts such as ribs, stringers, doublers, etc. using standard sheet metal and composite repair techniques and measuring tools such as calipers, dial calipers and scales.
- Utilize fabrication machines including drill press, band saw, chop saw, bending breaks and shears.
- Must be able to hold tolerance.
- Perform other duties as are necessary and/or required.
Basic Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, aerospace, or mechanical environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Basic ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic fabrication equipment (e.g., drills, saws).
- Ability to perform basic measurements using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, or scales.
- Basic understanding of aircraft sheet metal or composite materials and fabrication methods (cutting, forming, drilling, fastening).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical school certification or coursework in aerospace manufacturing, airframe & powerplant (A&P), sheet metal, composites, or machining.
- 1+ years of experience in aerospace or aviation manufacturing environments.
- Experience with aircraft sheet metal structures (e.g., ribs, stringers, doublers, skins) or composite layup and repair techniques.
Physical Requirements:
- Work environment consists of various office and manufacturing settings with may have exposure to noise, varying temperatures, smells, and chemicals.
- Ability to traverse manufacturing facility.
- Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including:
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling
- Perceiving differences in wire and indicator light colors
- Operating hand and power tools
- Lifting, carrying, and/or moving tools, equipment, and components weighing up to 50 pounds
- Working in confined spaces and around aircraft
- Ascending and descending ladders or stairs as required
