Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Combat Forces Command (CFC) Space Delta 7 (DEL 7) 76th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Squadron (76 ISRS) at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio is searching for a Security Program Specialist (GG-0080-12, GS-12 equivalent).

Description:
As the primary Security Specialist for a critical task force supporting two squadrons and key interagency partners, you will serve as the security linchpin for the 76th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Squadron (76 ISRS) and the Space Intelligence Production Cell (SIPC). Operating under Combat Forces Command and Space Delta 7, with duty at both Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Springfield Air Force National Guard Base in Ohio, your core mission is to protect vital national security resources from espionage, terrorism, and unauthorized disclosure. You will execute and provide comprehensive oversight for all squadron and SIPC security requirements-encompassing personnel, information, and physical security-while building and maintaining positive working relationships with all supporting security personnel across both installations to ensure the complete integrity of the mission.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned security professional with a comprehensive mastery of security principles, technologies, and practices, specifically skilled in safeguarding classified information within a complex, high-stakes environment. This individual possesses a deep, functional knowledge of the organization's structure, operational responsibilities, and personnel and manning programs, allowing them to navigate and solve institutional challenges effectively. They are an adept problem-solver, skilled in fact-finding, analysis, and developing concrete action plans. Furthermore, the candidate excels at gathering and presenting facts, communicating with tact and courtesy, and leveraging a full suite of office automation software to produce clear and effective reports, spreadsheets, and other documents. Their superior ability to plan, organize, and manage programs and functions ensures they can consistently meet deadlines and drive mission objectives forward.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concept, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices.
2. Knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of an organization.
3. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
4. Knowledge of security practices for ensuring the safeguarding of classified information in a complex security environment.
5. Knowledge of structure, programs, and work methods of organization for personnel/manning issues.
6. Skill in fact-finding, problem analysis, problem resolutions, and development of concrete action plans to solve problems.
7. Ability to gather, analyze and present facts, communicate effectively, using tact and courtesy and possess the ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines and ability to plan and organize management programs and functions of an organization.

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI access.
  • Position is special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), Special Sensitive information, or Top-Secret Special Access Programs (SAP) to fully perform the duties of the position.
  • A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
  • Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.

  • Incentive is not authorized.
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
