Job Description

Duties

Assists with the economic and efficient operation of the assigned facility, which includes equipment and facility maintenance and repair. Assists with the day-to-day operations of the facilities, which includes but are not limited to inspection of the Automotive and Car Wash facilities on a continual basis noting safety deficiencies and initiating prompt corrective action within the limits of authority. Ensures that the facility is maintained in a state of cleanliness and good repair at all times, and directs staff work assignments.

Serves as an alternate fund custodian, ensuring the safety and appropriate use of funds. May ring/verify cash register, issuing and checking change funds, preparation and/ or oversight of Daily Activity Reports and deposits. Contacts firms to obtain competitive prices regarding purchase of equipment, supplies and resale stock. Prepares and submits procurement requests to on duty supervisor. Assists with the internal controls of physical assets and resale inventories.

Responsible for issuing, receiving and storing tools. Provides training and guidance on the proper use of equipment and tools to both staff and customers. Conducts established training sessions covering automotive maintenance and repair.

Makes visual and operational checks and test on vehicles and equipment using test and measuring devices such as diagnostic scopes, compression gages, computer scanners, vacuum and pressure gages, micrometers, multimeters, tach-dwell meters and other analyzing equipment.

Effectively supports the Equal Employment Opportunity policy, and ensures compliance with fire safety, and other environmental issues.

Upon closure of the facility, completes fire safety checks, secures all doors, windows, storerooms, etc. Notifies the "trouble desk" of the Public Works Department (CWPD) of any emergencies that may occur. Prepares and submits daily report of night operations, to include both minor and serious incidents. This includes equipment breakdown or repair, leaks, personnel/staffing problems related to work situations and any other information that may affect the daily operation of the facility or management's decision.

Assists in the development and implementation of all safety and occupational health, fire prevention, environmental and industrial hygiene program requirements. Ensures employees are furnished with appropriate personal protective equipment and are instructed on proper use. Investigates mishaps and accurately prepares accident and mishap reports. Acts as manager on duty in the absence of the manager.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to operate a tow truck.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license at all times.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45lbs unassisted and more (weight) assisted.
  • This a Non-critical Sensitive position requiring access to IT Il system and or access to PII. Must be able to posses a secret clearance.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess:

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and possess a minimum of two years documented automotive repair experience with increasing responsibilities.

Must possess a basic understanding of all policies and procedures relating to expenditure, accountability of funds, procurement, internal controls, and the disposition of property.

Must possess positive written and verbal communication skills to deal effectively with subordinates, supervisors, management officials, and customers.

Must possess basic math skills for precise measuring of equipment (dial indicators and micrometers).

Must be able to rapidly become familiar with all the shops equipment and tools to insure proper and safe operations.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement.
