Overview
Northrop Grumman is seeking an Engineer Software 3 to support the Radio Frequency (RF) Business Unit in Rolling Meadows, IL. This role will contribute to the development of mission-critical software supporting national defense programs while working within an Agile software engineering environment focused on innovation, automation, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will have strong C++ development experience, GUI development expertise, and experience supporting the full software development lifecycle from requirements through integration and deployment.

The ideal candidate will have strong C++ development experience, GUI development expertise, and experience supporting the full software development lifecycle from requirements through integration and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, integrate, and maintain software applications supporting RF systems and engineering programs
- Develop object-oriented software solutions using C++
- Create and maintain graphical user interfaces (GUIs)
- Support software architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented design initiatives
- Develop and maintain applications utilizing relational databases and SQL
- Support software running on Windows operating systems
- Participate in full software development lifecycle activities including requirements, design, coding, testing, and integration
- Collaborate with customers, users, engineers, and technical teams to deliver software solutions
- Utilize Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies to support project execution
- Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, debugging, and system integration efforts
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline with 5+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of experience (additional experience may substitute for degree requirements)
- Strong object-oriented programming experience using C++
- Experience developing Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)
- Familiarity with software architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented design principles
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL
- Experience developing applications for Windows operating systems
- Familiarity with Agile and/or Waterfall development methodologies
- Experience with source control and collaboration tools such as Git, GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, ClearCase, Jira, or Rally
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active Secret Clearance required to start
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modern C++ (C++11 or newer)
- Experience with Python, Bash, Batch, or other scripting languages
- Experience testing, debugging, and integrating software on target hardware platforms
- Experience with Qt framework development
- Experience with DOORS requirements management
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
