Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Advanced Dimensional Inspection (CMM/Metrology)
- Execute complex inspection plans using CMM equipment (setup, part alignment, probing strategy verification) per site procedures.
- Perform advanced dimensional inspection using precision tools (height gage, micrometers, bore gages, indicators, pin/plug gages, surface finish gages as applicable).
- Apply GD&T to verify form, profile, position, runout, concentricity, datum schemes, and feature relationships.
- Validate inspection results against drawings, models, routers, and specifications; identify out-of-tolerance conditions and trends.
- Shift: 1st shift 6am-2:30pm
Documentation, Traceability & Data Integrity
- Record results accurately in required systems/forms (FAI/in-process/final dimensional records as applicable).
- Maintain inspection status and part identification to prevent mix/escape (tagging, segregation, traceability).
- Ensure measurement data is complete, legible, and compliant with site quality processes.
Nonconformance Identification & Support
- Initiate and document non conformances; support containment and escape prevention actions.
- Provide objective evidence (CMM reports, manual gage data, photos as allowed) to support Engineering/Quality Engineering investigations.
- Support MRB activities by summarizing inspection evidence and measurement method used (per site authorization).
Metrology Discipline & Capability
- Verify gage calibration status before use; ensure proper care/handling and environmental requirements are met.
- Support measurement studies (e.g., gage R&R) and inspection method validations as assigned.
- Troubleshoot fixturing, part stability, and repeatability issues; escalate when measurement uncertainty is suspected.
Team Support & Continuous Improvement
- Mentor Level 1-2 QC technicians in CMM fundamentals, GD&T interpretation, and documentation quality.
- Partner with Operations on defect prevention (setup verification, in-process control points, reaction plans).
- Participate in continuous improvement (scrap/rework reduction, FPY improvement) aligned to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (SQDC).
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
Desired Qualifications
- NDT (IR) Experience and support: If qualified, support or interface with NDT processes (as applicable) and help ensure compliance with required methods and documentation.
- High school diploma/GED with a minimum of 5 years quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment; machining/precision components strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Demonstrated proficiency with CMM inspection (running programs, setting up parts, interpreting reports) and precision hand gaging.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and procedural compliance.
- Experience with FAI (e.g., AS9102) and in-process inspection planning.
- Experience with CMM programming and knowledge of probing strategies/fixture design concepts.
- Experience with multi-platform metrology: vision systems, structured light, comparator, and manual precision tools
- Familiarity with NCR systems and manufacturing execution or ERP systems
- Prior experience mentoring or training other inspectors/technicians.
- Strong problem-solving skills: demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve inspection or measurement issues.
- Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
- Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively
- Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed
- Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative
- Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinker
