The Business Analyst II provides administrative and programmatic support to CDC Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS) leadership, branch staff, and program teams. The incumbent supports daily operations through coordination of administrative activities, records management, scheduling, travel support, onboarding activities, reporting, and program tracking functions.

This position serves as a key liaison between CDC leadership, branch staff, and contractor personnel to ensure operational activities are completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with CDC policies and procedures. The Business Analyst II is expected to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Business Analyst II Essential Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide administrative and operational support to CDC branch leadership and program staff.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain correspondence, reports, presentations, meeting materials, and other program documentation.
  • Coordinate and manage calendars, meetings, conference calls, and scheduling activities.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, capture notes, and track action items through completion.
  • Support travel coordination activities, including travel documentation, approvals, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with timekeeping, personnel tracking, and administrative reporting activities.
  • Maintain electronic and hard-copy records in accordance with CDC policies and records management requirements.
    Program Coordination
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities supporting branch and division operations.
  • Monitor program activities and assist with tracking deliverables, deadlines, and milestones.
  • Support implementation of established workflows and operational processes.
  • Assist with data collection, status tracking, and preparation of routine program reports.
  • Coordinate communication between CDC staff, contractor personnel, and external stakeholders as directed.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities for contractor personnel.
  • Maintain tracking systems, spreadsheets, databases, and other tools used to support program operations.


Documentation and Reporting
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, tracking tools, and administrative records.
  • Compile information for monthly status reports and other contract deliverables.
  • Monitor action items and provide follow-up support to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist with quality reviews of administrative documents and reports for accuracy and completeness.


Compliance and Customer Service
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with CDC policies, procedures, and established standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and records.
  • Provide professional customer service and support to CDC staff and stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on administrative and operational efficiencies.


Business Analyst II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in: Business Administration, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Management, Communications, Public Health, or a related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience providing administrative, programmatic, operational, or business support services.
  • Experience supporting federal government, public health, healthcare, or scientific organizations preferred.
  • Experience coordinating multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting CDC, HHS, or other federal agencies.
  • Supporting public health, scientific, or laboratory programs.
  • Familiarity with records management and federal administrative processes.
  • Experience supporting contractor operations and contract deliverables.
  • Experience utilizing SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Power BI, or other collaboration and reporting tools.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience preparing reports, presentations, meeting materials, and correspondence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to interact professionally with senior leadership, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.


Work Environment
  • On-site work environment supporting CDC operations.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required CDC access credentials and clearances.
