Job Description
DSD Laboratories is seeking a junior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support mission-critical Department of Defense programs. You will lead or support Risk Management Framework (RMF) authorization, continuous monitoring, and cybersecurity compliance activities that directly protect national security systems. What You Will Do
• Support Information System Security Officer (ISSO) duties for AFMC A4 portfolio systems under technical direction of the ISSM.
• Assist with RMF Rev 5 authorization activities, eMASS package maintenance, control assessment evidence collection, POA&M updates, STIG/SCAP compliance checks, ACAS/Nessus vulnerability scan review, and patch remediation tracking.
• Help maintain System Security Plans (SSPs), audit logs, and continuous monitoring artifacts.
• Coordinate with DevSecOps, system administrators, and senior cybersecurity staff to support ATO sustainment, document repeatable security processes, and contribute to ongoing authorization activities.
What You Bring
• 0–2 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, RMF in support of assessment and authorization, vulnerability scanning, STIG/SCAP implementation and validation, audit evidence collection, system security documentation, or Plan of Action and Milestone (POA&M) monitoring and closure.
• Familiarity with eMASS, NIST 800-53 Rev5, NIST 800-171, ACAS/Nessus, SCAP Compliance Checker, STIG Viewer, POA&M tracking, audit log review, vulnerability remediation, configuration management, and technical documentation.
• DoD 8140 Basic / DoD 8570 IAM Level I equivalent certification (e.g., Security+, CGRC/CAP, HCISPP).
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Assurance, or related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be substituted where contract allows.
Preferred Qualifications
• 1–3 years supporting DoD, federal, or regulated technical environments; exposure to eMASS, generating RMF artifacts, Plan of Action and Milestone documentation, vulnerability scanning, or continuous monitoring.
• DoD 8140 Intermediate / DoD 8570 IAM Level II equivalent certification (e.g., Security+, CGRC/CAP, HCISPP); AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent entry-level certifications.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Coursework, bootcamp, or certificate in cybersecurity, information assurance, RMF, or cloud security fundamentals.
