Job Description

Duties

  • Maintain law and order and preserve the peace for a medical treatment facility.
  • Provide security guard services for the protection of employees, patients, visitors, and government property within a medical treatment facility.
  • Maintain contact and liaison with installation Police Desk and civilian law enforcement personnel.
  • Utilize two-way communication device to communicate with the medical treatment facility security office.
  • Direct patients, visitors, vendors, and contractors to the appropriate medical center office, ward, or clinic.
  • Receive all emergency notifications and determine the appropriate action
  • Document daily shift activities and statistics such as personnel enter or leaving assigned areas on paper or automated log books.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements. Incumbent will be required to regularly work 12 hour shifts.
  • This position requires the incumbent not have any criminal convictions and possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Criminal convictions and/or loss of license may result in removal from the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to qualify annually with a 9mm Semi-Automatic pistol and be proficient in any other required firearms, scanner metal detector and oleoresin capsicum (OC) pepper spray/foam.
  • The incumbent is required to maintain a high standard of conduct; and will be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program to show they can work effectively under pressure or emergency conditions with a positive attitude toward his/her duties.
  • This position requires incumbent to complete a pre-employment physical, physical agility, and psychological examinations and annual thereafter to ensure the required level of physical health and ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires incumbent to be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid.
  • This position requires incumbent to wear a chemical protective mask and a uniform.
  • This position has the following medical requirements; good near and distant vision, ability to distinguish basic colors, and ability to hear the conversational voice.
  • This position is under the Federal Motor Operations medical requirement specified in 5 Code of Federal Regulations Section 930 Part 109; persons operating a Government owned or leased vehicle are subject to medical testing once every 4 years.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Patrolling a large facility to preserve peace and order; utilizing law enforcement equipment such as: restraining devices (handcuffs), safety equipment (L.C., fire extinguishers), two-way communication devices, and motor vehicle to restrain individuals and communicate with emergency personnel; responding to intrusion and/or emergency duress alarms within a medical treatment facility; and maintaining daily log reports to obtain heavy traffic patterns.
