Job Description
Nakupuna Consulting is seeking an SFJ S6 IT Manager to support Space Forces-Japan (SFJ) operations in Japan. This position serves as the lead technical authority responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and sustainment of mission-critical command-and-control information technology infrastructure supporting Space Force operations.
The SFJ S6 IT Manager will play a key role in establishing and maintaining secure, resilient, and operationally effective IT capabilities supporting headquarters operations, operations centers, exercises, and mission requirements. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring both technical expertise and operational execution. The selected candidate will serve as a technical lead, systems administrator, infrastructure engineer, asset manager, and trusted advisor supporting senior leadership and operational users across multiple network environments. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can independently build, maintain, and optimize enterprise IT systems while operating in dynamic and mission-focused environments.

Infrastructure and Systems Management
• Lead information technology and communications support for headquarters activation, relocation, modernization, and sustainment efforts.
• Plan and execute installation, relocation, configuration, testing, and restoration of IT systems and communications infrastructure.
• Design, implement, administer, and maintain secure and non-secure network environments supporting operational mission requirements.
• Develop and maintain reliable, resilient, and scalable infrastructure supporting command-and-control operations.
• Perform hands-on systems administration, configuration management, troubleshooting, patching, and performance optimization.
• Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, system inventories, and configuration baselines.
Operations Center and Exercise Support
• Design and deploy IT infrastructure supporting headquarters facilities, operations centers, and mission support workspaces.
• Engineer and support secure voice, video, collaboration, and data communications capabilities.
• Support exercises, operational events, and mission activities through deployment, sustainment, troubleshooting, and recovery of IT systems.
• Manage the full lifecycle of exercise and mission-support systems, including planning, setup, accreditation support, live-event operations, and teardown activities.
• Provision and administer user accounts and access permissions for assigned personnel and exercise participants.
• Maintain operational readiness of IT systems supporting mission-critical activities.
Asset Management and Compliance
• Serve as the primary manager for IT asset accountability and lifecycle management activities.
• Track hardware, software, licensing, and communications assets from acquisition through disposal.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, audit documentation, and accountability reports.
• Support configuration management, change management, and documentation requirements.
• Coordinate technical requirements, procurement activities, and integration efforts with supporting organizations and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with applicable cybersecurity, information assurance, and organizational requirements.
End User and Executive Support
• Serve as the primary technical support resource for headquarters personnel and operational users.
• Troubleshoot and maintain workstations, laptops, mobile devices, printers, collaboration platforms, and video teleconferencing systems.
• Provide responsive support for senior leaders, distinguished visitors, exercises, and high-visibility events.
• Train personnel on systems, applications, cybersecurity requirements, and local support procedures.
• Support incident response and rapid problem resolution in operational environments.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience supporting enterprise information technology, network operations, systems administration, or mission-support IT environments.
• Experience supporting classified and unclassified networks, including one or more of the following: NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS, Mission Partner Environment (MPE), or bilateral mission networks.
• Experience supporting command posts, operations centers, headquarters facilities, or mission-support infrastructure.
• Experience managing IT asset accountability, inventory control, and lifecycle management programs.
• Experience supporting military exercises, operational events, or mission-critical environments.
• Strong systems administration, troubleshooting, and technical support capabilities.
• Experience coordinating with technical teams, operational stakeholders, and senior leaders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in dynamic operational environments.
• U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting U.S. Space Force, Air Force, Department of Defense, Joint Staff, Combatant Command, or Indo-Pacific operations.
• Experience supporting headquarters activation, facility stand-up, communications fit-out, or relocation projects.
• Experience supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF), cybersecurity compliance, accreditation, or information assurance activities.
• Experience leading small technical teams while maintaining hands-on technical responsibilities.
• Experience supporting executive communications and senior leader support requirements.
• Experience with virtualization, enterprise storage, cloud technologies, or data center operations.
