BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) seeks a self-motivated and detail-oriented Material Proposal Coordinator to contribute to the Bill of Material Pricing Team in response to BAE Systems SMS Customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).

This is a second level position within Supply Chain that provides an opportunity to increase skill sets within the proposal process, specifically material pricing.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to work within multiple teams across many functional areas to increase your understanding of the proposal process and contribute to a dynamic, fast paced and growing team.

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution - from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

The Integrated Supply Chain team has a direct impact on program success, acting as a critical chain that links the end-to-end material flow together. Our organization helps propel us forward and achieve true mission partnership.

What You'll Do:
  • Be able to plan, lead and perform a BOM effort from proposal kick off through supporting document submission for the cost volume.
  • Attend Proposal Kick Off Meetings.
  • Become an expert in MPP and its functionality.
  • Attend Director and/or Vice President level reviews.
  • Create and present Supply Chain Risk Summary Slides at Director and/or Vice President level reviews.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of BAE Systems SMS proposal process as it relates to Bill of Material (BOM) pricing.
  • Request and receive quotes from suppliers.
  • Review all quotes entered for accuracy and validity through the requested date and populate the Pricing Software; Become an expert/professional in quote review/comprehension.
  • Review Bill of Materials top 80% cost drivers for accuracy.
  • Proactively coordinate with the proposal team regarding workload and deadline requests.
  • Manage excel spreadsheets and report to the proposal team through various stages of the quoting process.
  • Provide input, analysis, and support for annual additional quantities.
  • Supplier proposal evaluations (May include Commercial Off the Shelf Parts).
  • Assist Category Specialists in quote entry and review.
  • Review supplier pricing.
  • Learn and experience team interaction throughout supply chain.
  • Participate in proposal process.
  • Request Pricing from Suppliers.
  • Analyze previous pricing to current pricing.
  • Gain an understanding of price deltas from suppliers and the cost drivers of those prices.
  • Review and apply additional quantity percentage to part quantities based on internal BAE Systems SMS Policies.
  • Locate and review engineering drawings for identification of parts, materials and tooling needs in BAE Systems SMS Software.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • May Assist in DCAA/DCMA audits or customer fact finds
  • Understanding of BAE Systems SMS Proposal software or similar Proposal and Pricing software.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand requests of supply chain in the proposal process, ask questions of the program to meet the customer deadline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading proposal activities from initial request through Proposal Submission
  • Ability to successfully execute multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience/ability to work efficiently and effectively with multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Experience supporting local and virtual team members across various geographical locations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to notice changes in documents.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team while making individual contributions.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word, and Adobe Professional.
  • Preferred skills in Business, Supply Chain, Mathematics, Data Science, Accounting, Business, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Project Management, and General Science.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $67406 - $114590

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
