The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson AFB, CO for a Director of Staff for SYD 85 (NH-1101-04, GS-14/15 equivalent).

Description:
The United States Space Force (USSF) in Colorado Springs, CO is searching for a well-qualified candidate to fill the Director of Staff position for the System Delta 85. The System Delta 85 Director of Staff serves as the primary integrator and advisor to the Delta Commander, directing daily staff activities and synchronizing cross-functional disciplines, including program management, engineering, finance, contracting, and intelligence, to deliver resilient space capabilities. In this capacity, the Director of Staff manages and tracks higher-headquarters taskings, ensures the rigorous quality control of staff packages, and orchestrates administrative, operational, and resource planning across the Delta. Additionally, they provide critical oversight on military and civilian personnel management, strategic planning initiatives, and collaboration with corresponding Mission Deltas and external partners to maintain mission readiness.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate possesses expert knowledge of DoD 5000-series acquisition pathways and rapid prototyping methodologies to drive the delivery of resilient space systems. They demonstrate mastery in synchronizing cross-functional teams and managing high-volume taskings-utilizing systems such as TMT-to seamlessly execute the Delta Commander's intent. Furthermore, this leader exhibits a superior ability to distill complex technical data into actionable executive summaries and briefings for General Officer and Senior Executive Service (SES) leadership. The candidate must be highly proficient in the PPBE process, adeptly managing RDT&E and O&M funding streams to guarantee mission success. Finally, they are skilled in both military and civilian personnel management, including AcqDemo administration, and are deeply committed to fostering professional development across a diverse, high-performing workforce.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning the acquisition management process and initiatives.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of the missions, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of the DOW, Space Force, and organizations that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process.
4. Skills to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff in critical aspects of development and production, support of systems, subsystems, or equipment and to coordinate various aspects of systems acquisition such as engineering, contracting, financial management, configuration, test, and manufacturing.
5. Ability to lead, mentor, motivate, appraise, and work with subordinate supervisors and non-supervisory employees.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS / relocation funding is authorized.
  • This is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP).
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 26 days per year.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
