Software Engineer - Product Manager Tactical Communications Systems
Location: APG, MD
Security Clearance: Secret
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (master's preferred).
Minimum years of Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive software engineering experience, with at least 3 years supporting Department of War (DoW) communications or mission-critical systems
Substitutions: BS can be substituted with an additional four (4) years' additional experience may be substituted for the degree.
Salary: 130K-170K Annual; Commensurate with Education/Experience
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and integrate advanced software solutions for Army tactical radios and communications technologies.
Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise for secure, robust, and scalable software architectures.
Collaborate with Program Managers, systems engineers, and other SETA team members to define requirements and implementation roadmaps.
Conduct code reviews, debug complex issues, and drive continuous software performance and security improvements.
Support system-level testing, fielding, and sustainment activities, delivering timely solutions to technical challenges.
Develop and maintain technical documentation in compliance with Army and DoD standards.
Travel as required (~20%)
Required Experience & Qualifications:
Proficiency in C++, Java, Python, or similar languages, with experience developing embedded systems or communications platforms.
Strong knowledge of secure coding practices, networking protocols, and system integration.
Ability to translate complex operational requirements into effective, real-world software solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with current Army tactical radios, waveforms, and military communications technologies. Specific experience with VENOM in a lab and/or field condition is preferred.
Familiarity with Agile development and modern DevSecOps practices.
Previous work with Army programs.
