Duties

As a HR SPECIALIST (INFORMATION SYSTEMS/MILITARY), GS-0201-11, you will to plan, organize, administer, and troubleshoot the operation and data base integrity of the Military Personnel Data System in support of military human resources management functions. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • Position designated as Essential and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
  • The work may require the incumbent to drive a motor vehicle; if so, and a valid Kansas driver's license is mandatory.
Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Must have 3 years of experience in analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gathering pertinent data, and recognizing solutions; planning and organizing work; and communicating effectively orally and in writing.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Must have 1-year specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Knowledge of, and skill in applying, a wide range of Human Resources Management (HRM) concepts, laws, policies, practices, analytical, and diagnostic methods, and techniques sufficient to solve a wide range of complex, interrelated HRM problems and issues. Knowledge of Air Force and Air National Guard standardized procedures and requirements related to operating departmental programs and extensive problem resolution skills for analyzing broad, complex, and controversial issues. These issues will likely have a significant impact of Air Force wide personnel functions. A high level of technical skill in personnel systems and knowledge of military personnel policies, processes, and specialty areas, and the ability to relate these knowledges to system processes/functions/capabilities to provide positive assistance in solving workforce issues; to provide advice on organizational structure; to conduct planned, systematic studies to identify long- and short-term needs of serviced organizations; and to help plan organizational or procedural changes. Ability to analyze trends and forecast changes in personnel process requirements that will meet future mission demands.
