About The Role
As a Space Operations Planner supporting a critical national security space warfighting mission, you will contribute to planning efforts that help translate strategic objectives into operational outcomes. As a member of the Plans & Strategy Division, you will support Joint Planning Process (JPP) and Combatant Command (COCOM) planning activities that help protect and enhance mission-critical space capabilities.
In this role, you will assist in the development of plans, procedures, and operational products that support mission success across the space domain. You will help assess operational effectiveness, document lessons learned from exercises and real-world events, and support continuous improvement initiatives across planning, training, and mission assurance activities. Working alongside Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), and interagency partners, you will gain valuable experience supporting contingency planning, mission integration, and effects-based operations in a dynamic national security environment.
The ideal candidate is a motivated professional with experience in space operations, military planning, intelligence, or related mission areas who is eager to grow their expertise while contributing to high-impact national security missions.

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Responsibilities
- Support the development and refinement of operational plans, reports, orders, and planning products using Adaptive Planning and Execution (APEX), Joint Planning Process (JPP), and Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES) methodologies.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), courses of action (COAs), and operational planning products.
- Evaluate existing plans, procedures, and mission processes and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Capture, document, and analyze lessons learned from exercises, training events, and operational activities.
- Support the integration of emerging Indications and Warning (I&W) systems, collection capabilities, and mission tools into planning processes.
- Monitor and report on terrestrial and space-based activities, operational trends, and mission-relevant threats.
- Assist with collection management activities and planning efforts that support mission objectives.
- Coordinate logistics and administrative activities for planning meetings, operational workshops, and training events.
- Identify potential operational, procedural, or intelligence gaps and communicate findings to team leads and leadership.
- Collaborate with government, military, intelligence, and interagency partners to support mission planning and execution.
- Work full-time on-site at a government facility in Springfield, Virginia.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 9 years w/o a degree or 7 years with AS/AA or 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA
- Active TS/SCI clearance with adjudicated Polygraph.
- Experience supporting operational planning, mission execution, intelligence operations, or related national security activities.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and support multiple priorities.
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community (IC) and/or Department of Defense (DoD) planning activities, exercises, or operational missions.
- Familiarity with Joint Planning Process (JPP), Adaptive Planning and Execution (APEX), Joint Operational Planning and Execution System (JOPES), Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP), or related planning methodologies.
- Experience supporting exercises, training events, or operational planning efforts.
- Prior military service or experience supporting defense or intelligence organizations.
- Working knowledge of space operations, space domain awareness, collection management, or national security mission areas.
- Familiarity with foreign and domestic space and ground-based threat capabilities.
- Basic understanding of orbital mechanics, flight safety concepts, space surveillance operations, or Indications and Warning (I&W) systems.
