  • Lead integrated project teams in deploying advanced target fielding capabilities, defining operational boundaries, and advising leadership on system capabilities and risk.
  • Oversee the maintenance, readiness, and continuous improvement of cryogenic and target positioning systems to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Provide expert technical judgment and decision-making during off-normal events, enabling teams to respond effectively and mitigate risk.
  • Develop and implement training frameworks that build workforce capability, standardize practices, and strengthen operational readiness.
  • Establish requirements and verification plans, and author, review, and approve technical documentation.
  • Mentor engineering and operations staff, fostering technical growth, accountability, and leadership capacity.
  • Collaborate across organizations and disciplines to align stakeholders, solve complex problems, and advance shared objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and previous relevant experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with cryogenic systems and experience leading cryogenic operations and engineering teams in complex, high-consequence technical environments.
  • Extensive experience making sound technical judgements and extensive decision-making skills, especially during off-normal events or rapidly evolving operational conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative methods and technologies.
  • Extensive team leadership and management experience.
  • Extensive experience developing and implementing innovative processes, technologies, and process improvements based on data analysis and operational needs.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to lead a team, communicate effectively and collaborate with technical support personnel on requirements, design, safety, construction, or modification of process, and present and explain technical information and provide advice to management.

Qualifications We Desire
  • Experience planning and directing complex technical programs.
  • Experience in NIF or Target Area Experimental Systems (TExS) cryogenic or target-fielding environments.
