Duties
Duty 1: Serves as information security program specialist executing/enforcing all operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the program.
Duty 2: Makes information protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies/recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues that may require deviations from or synthesis of policies.
Duty 3: Incumbent is responsible to ensure the core classified national information protection security disciplines of information are fully covered from a policy and programmed viewpoint to ensure overall information protection requirements meet mission requirements.
Duty 4: Develops and provides Security Awareness and Education Programs to satisfy security education and training requirements for COCOM an subordinate organization.
Duty 5: Responible for providing assistance to the Induustrial and Personnel Security Program Managers, as well as the Chief, Information Security to ensure the threee-core information protection security disciplines of information, personnel, and industrial security are fully converge form a policy and progammatic viewpoint to ensure overall information protection requirements meet mission requirements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes applying knowledge of a wide range of security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the Information Protection (IP) program to include: Acquisition security, program protection, information security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, operations security, foreign disclosure, and information assurance in order to perform the full range of complex security management responsibilities. Knowledge of operational characteristics across the multiple-disciplinary construct of Information Protection, in order to apply unique management tools to develop an effective converged solution to systemic problematic issues affecting the Wing. Knowledge of analytical methods for determining and evaluating vulnerability threats, intelligence data, and other specialized areas resulting in possible program compromise. Knowledge of Risk Management principles and the ability to employ the latest Risk Management techniques and programs. Knowledge of a wide range of methods to conduct inspections and investigations; collect and analyze information, and evaluate the effectiveness of the Wing security program. Knowledge of information systems life cycle management processes and procedures. Knowledge of computer security technologies, techniques, objectives, problems and solutions.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Expert knowledge of information security t plan and implement security programs in this area.
2. Knowledge of personnel and industrial security concepts, principles, and practices to collaborate with those specialists and produce converged policies and recommendations.
3. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, and procedures to develop security education programs, provide training, and assist in operating security programs.
4. Knowledge in analytical theories, processes, programs and practices to accomplish broad studies and make well-supported recommendations.
5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
6. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines.
