Pay: $57/hr W2 OR $67.50/hr 1099
Contract: 12 months to start
Overview
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mass Properties Engineer to support the Mechanical and Energetics department in Chandler, AZ. As a member of the Mass Properties team, you will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering groups to model, analyze, and track the mass properties of launch vehicles and subsystems.
This role directly supports mission success by ensuring launch systems meet critical performance, weight, and balance requirements that impact national security and space exploration initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mass properties models for launch vehicles and subsystems
- Perform weight and balance analyses, including mass estimation and optimization activities
- Establish design target weights and monitor compliance throughout development
- Maintain mass properties accounting systems and provide trend analysis to program leadership
- Support proposal evaluations, design reviews, and operational documentation efforts
- Conduct component weighing and verification activities to improve estimate accuracy
- Present technical findings during engineering and program reviews
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to gather information and communicate program status
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM field
- 0-5 years of engineering experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Basic CAD experience and understanding
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work across teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience with Access VBA and Excel Macros
- Experience working independently with minimal oversight
- Academic or professional experience involving:
- Mass properties
- Weight and balance
- Center of gravity
- Moments of inertia
- Products of inertia
- Launch vehicle or aerospace systems analysis
