Position Overview

Prescient Edge is seeking a Cognizant Security Officer (CSO) to support classified U.S. Navy programs in Panama City, Florida. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering personnel, physical, operational, and information security requirements in support of sensitive government programs and activities.

The CSO will serve as a trusted security professional supporting government and contractor personnel while ensuring compliance with applicable Department of War (DOW), Department of the Navy (DON), and customer-specific security requirements. This position requires a highly organized individual capable of operating independently in a fast-paced classified environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and security compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer day-to-day security operations supporting classified U.S. Navy programs and personnel.
  • Coordinate personnel security actions, clearance verification, indoctrinations, debriefings, and visit requests.
  • Support management and administration of TS/SCI personnel and associated security documentation.
  • Process and track personnel security actions through applicable government security systems.
  • Coordinate classified meetings, facility access requirements, and visitor control procedures.
  • Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and operating instructions.
  • Maintain security records, training documentation, briefing records, and compliance documentation.
  • Support DD254 administration and subcontractor security coordination activities.
  • Conduct security education, awareness, and training sessions for cleared personnel.
  • Assist with inspections, self-assessments, audits, and corrective action activities.
  • Coordinate with government security managers, facility security personnel, program leadership, and supporting contractors.
  • Support classified material control, accountability, transmission, storage, and destruction requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable security regulations, directives, and customer requirements.


Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting personnel security, industrial security, program security, SCI administration, or related security functions.
  • Experience working within a Department of the Navy, Department of War, Intelligence Community, or defense contractor environment.
  • Working knowledge of personnel security procedures, classified information handling requirements, and security compliance practices.
  • Experience supporting classified facilities, secure workspaces, or sensitive government programs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and record-management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience supporting NAVSEA, NSWC, or Navy RDT&E; programs.
  • Experience administering SCI programs and TS/SCI personnel.
  • Experience supporting DD254 development, review, and administration.
  • Prior experience serving as a Contractor Special Security Representative (CSSR), Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO), Special Security Officer (SSO), Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO), Facility Security Officer (FSO), or similar role.
  • Familiarity with DISS, NBIS, NISS, and other government security management systems.
  • Experience supporting classified test, evaluation, research, development, or prototype programs.

Location
  • Panama City, FL.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support customer meetings, security inspections, training events, and program activities.

Security Clearance
  • Active Secret security clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI eligibility.
