Chipton-Ross is seeking an Aeronautical Engineer 2 for a contract opportunity in Chandler, AZ.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Looking for an Engineer Aeronautical 2 to support our Mechanical Engineering Energetics department. As a member of the Mechanical Engineering department, you'll get to support a family of launch vehicles or hardware development, procurement, and test. This role will perform various ordnance, pneumatic, hydraulic, and motor analysis and integration activities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) is required.

9/80 work schedule. This position will serve on-site at Chandler, Arizona.

- Aerospace Engineering.
- Active US Government Secret Security Clearance, or higher, at time of application.

This role will perform various ordnance, pneumatic, hydraulic, and motor analysis and integration activities.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Perform analysis, design, or test of one or more moderately complex materials (including energetics), structural components, and control systems for propulsion systems.
- Apply engineering principles, industry standards, company standards and customer requirements to develop propulsion systems for application in launch vehicles, missile systems, and space mission systems
- Select applicable analytical data from previous products, determine the technical principles involved, mathematically define the problem and compute the engineering characteristics consistent with the specifications, design needs, and requirements of other portions of the product
- Coordinate strategy for developing and leveraging multi-disciplinary design, optimization, and analysis processes to support mission requirements. Define and coordinate the conduct of testing required to evaluate design work
- Perform hands on test support of pneumatic and hydraulic components and systems through functional and environmental testing
- Perform responsible engineer duties leading the Integrated Product Team of a medium sized subcontract coordinating supplier change notifications, non-conformances, hardware acceptance reviews, etc.
- Conduct pre-launch engineering reviews, examining as built vehicle hardware, pre-launch data, assessing flight readiness and working with the flight field teams.
- Conduct trade studies and evaluate alternative designs.
- Based on broadly defined problems, study basic design concepts and criteria for complex materials, components, or functional systems and applies the engineering principles involved to develop new designs.
- Anticipate customer needs and find innovative ways to provide for those needs.
- Originate and develop constructive ideas. Consistently look for ways to modify or change existing methods or processes to improve outcomes.
- Determine engineering tasks required for project planning and execution; Analyze project requirements and develop detailed planning, conceptual designs, and risk analysis.
- Interact with internal and external customers; Assist the customer in defining system requirements and in the generation of specifications for products or sub systems.
- Develop and present materials for project related briefings including design reviews to be given to internal and external customers.
- Support new business and prepare proposal material.
- Travel up to 10% of the time to supplier and launch facilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
- Active US Government Top Secret security clearance at the time of application.
- Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering degree.
- Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Rocket Motors.
- Experience with Matlab, and Python.
- Environmental testing experience.
- Data acquisition equipment operation.
- Configuration change management.
- Supply Chain Management of Subcontractors.
- Presentation of technical data to internal and external customers.
- Failure investigation techniques.
