We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lab Manager to lead mechanical engineering laboratory operations supporting defense and engineering development programs. This role oversees airflow, hydraulics, dyno, thermal validation, suspension, and secure testing laboratories while ensuring equipment readiness, facility engineering support, DoD security compliance, EHS adherence, capital asset planning, and engineering test support. Candidates with experience in laboratory operations, mechanical systems, hydraulics, facilities management, classified environments, Creo, NX, and Teamcenter are highly desired.

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Lab Manager to lead mechanical engineering laboratory operations supporting defense and engineering development programs. This role oversees airflow, hydraulics, dyno, thermal validation, suspension, and secure testing laboratories while ensuring equipment readiness, facility engineering support, DoD security compliance, EHS adherence, capital asset planning, and engineering test support. Candidates with experience in laboratory operations, mechanical systems, hydraulics, facilities management, classified environments, Creo, NX, and Teamcenter are highly desired.
Responsibilities:
- Lead maintenance, readiness, and daily operations for multiple engineering laboratories, including Airflow, Hydraulics, Dyno, Thermal Validation, Suspension, and secure testing areas.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for laboratory operations, equipment functionality, and facility support activities.
- Ensure laboratory compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies, engineering standards, and DoD security requirements.
- Support development of test plans, test requirements, prototyping efforts, development testing, and failure analysis activities.
- Assist with fixture design, fabrication, installation, and test setup activities.
- Manage procurement, inventory tracking, storage, and disposition of engineering materials, hardware, and consumables.
- Maintain calibration status, functionality, and operational readiness of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
- Perform equipment troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repairs, and system upgrades.
- Develop scopes of work for service providers, capital improvements, and facility enhancement projects.
- Coordinate with supply chain, procurement teams, and external vendors to support maintenance and capital upgrade initiatives.
- Create material requests for laboratory equipment, parts, tooling, and consumable items.
- Develop and maintain laboratory schedules, utilization plans, inventory systems, and storage solutions.
- Forecast future laboratory requirements and support strategic planning for additional capabilities, modernization efforts, or consolidation initiatives.
- Prepare reports, project summaries, and operational metrics for management and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with design engineers, test engineers, materials engineering teams, and dyno personnel throughout product development activities.
- Support training initiatives, knowledge management efforts, and laboratory process documentation.
- Lead capital asset planning, budgeting, and cost estimating activities while presenting recommendations to management and senior leadership.
- Serve as Security Custodian for classified and secure work areas, coordinating planning, execution, and oversight of activities conducted within secure environments.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting engineering laboratories, testing environments, facilities engineering, or related technical operations.
- Strong experience troubleshooting and testing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and facility systems.
- Experience supporting laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, calibration programs, and engineering test activities.
- Proficiency with Creo, NX, and Teamcenter.
- Experience managing engineering inventories, materials, procurement activities, and capital assets.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual collaboration tools.
- Ability to support multiple engineering organizations and manage competing priorities in a dynamic technical environment.
- Must be able to work onsite full-time.
- Ability to travel approximately 10%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree concentration in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Facilities Engineering.
- Experience working within classified or secure DoD environments.
- Prior experience supporting military vehicle systems.
- Experience with laboratory expansion, facility planning, and capital improvement projects.
- Experience supporting engineering development, validation testing, and failure analysis programs.
