Job Description
Job Title: Storage Engineer
Location: Washington, DC
Type: 6 + months Contract to Hire
Contractor Work Model: Remote – Offsite
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust (or higher if required)
Responsibilities
• Architect, implement, and sustain enterprise storage platforms supporting mission-critical SEC workloads across primary, alternate, and regional environments.
• Drive performance optimization, capacity planning, and resilient backup and recovery strategies to meet operational, recovery, and continuity objectives.
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise SAN/NAS, storage virtualization, and disaster recovery solutions compliant with organizational and federal standards.
• Administer and optimize large-scale storage environments, monitor performance, and troubleshoot advanced storage incidents such as latency, throughput, and platform stability issues.
• Lead complex storage projects, including migrations, upgrades, and cloud integration, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
• Develop and enforce storage policies, standards, and documentation to support audit readiness and compliance in a federal environment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as infrastructure, network, security, and virtualization to deliver end-to-end storage solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers, serve as the storage SME, and lead risk assessments and remediation strategies for storage resiliency and security.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (BS).
• 12+ years of experience in enterprise storage architecture, design, and administration.
• Expertise with SAN/NAS technologies, storage virtualization, and enterprise backup/recovery solutions.
• Proven experience leading complex storage migrations, upgrades, and integration with cloud and on-premises environments.
• Advanced skills in storage performance tuning, capacity planning, risk assessment, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Knowledge of enterprise SAN/NAS platforms, storage virtualization, and operational best practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust (or higher if required).
• Strong troubleshooting skills for mission-critical storage issues and operational risk management.
• Experience developing storage standards, policies, and supporting audit and compliance efforts in federal environments.
