Shift: 9x80 Schedule (Every other Friday off)
Pay: $139,600–$246,100 (location and experience dependent)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Lead Avionics Responsible Engineer V – Flight Controls to lead the development of a sophisticated, state of the art avionics product within a world class Integrated Product Development environment. In this role, you will serve as the Responsible Product Engineer for flight controls hardware, owning technical design development, supplier coordination, production and delivery, and all aspects of engineering closeout for a high-visibility space program. The ideal candidate has deep experience in high reliability electronics, flight controls or avionics hardware, and has led cross functional engineering teams through complex technical and programmatic challenges.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Lead and coordinate technical design development for a supplier delivered avionics flight controls product.
Own component production, delivery, and engineering closeouts, including Discrepancy Reports (DRs), End Item Data Packages (EIDPs), Material Review Boards (MRB), Failure Review Boards (FRB), and related activities.
Work on a cross functional team to support development, integration, and certification of the flight controls avionics product.
Support generation, review, and presentation of Product Certification artifacts to internal and external stakeholders.
Lead risk identification and mitigation planning to meet productivity, quality, cost, schedule, and mission success objectives.
Serve as the technical point of contact with suppliers, guiding design decisions, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with requirements and standards.
Lead specific technical topics during formal engineering and program reviews, including System Requirements Review (SRR), Change Review Board (CRB), Engineering Review Board (ERB), Quality Review Board (QRB), MRB, FRB, and other review forums as needed.
Support requirements development, allocation, and verification, ensuring traceability from system-level specifications to hardware-level implementation.
Oversee and review electronics circuit designs, schematics, and simulations for flight controls avionics, leveraging tools such as SPICE or similar modeling/simulation environments.
Coordinate with systems, software, test, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are integrable, testable, and producible within program constraints.
Contribute to root cause and corrective action (RCCA) efforts related to avionics hardware anomalies and field issues.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combined education and experience.
8+ years of professional experience in aerospace or related high reliability electronics environments.
Experience as a technical lead or responsible engineer, owning design and delivery of electronic hardware.
Experience with high reliability electronics circuit design, including schematic creation and interpretation and use of electronics modeling/simulation tools such as SPICE.
Experience supporting technical evaluation of designs and requirements verification, and familiarity with multiple phases of the aerospace hardware development lifecycle.
Experience interacting with peers, management, and government customers and presenting technical content in written and oral form.
U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated ability to lead teams through challenging engineering and/or programmatic issues, building consensus and driving decisions.
Experience on space and/or missile defense missions and familiarity with associated mission environments and constraints.
Missile design experience or prior work on guidance, control, or avionics systems for missiles or spacecraft.
Experience with electronic systems schematic creation and interpretation, and proficiency with electronics modeling/simulation tools (e.g., SPICE or equivalent).
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to peers, management, subcontractors, and customers.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast?paced, dynamic, collaborative team environment, building effective relationships across disciplines and organizations.
