The FBM Program is experiencing significant growth, and we are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) team has supported the Navy's mission to provide affordable and credible strategic defense. The Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program is soaring to new heights. We're expanding rapidly and need a seasoned Senior Systems Engineer who thrives on solving complex, high impact problems and wants to leave a lasting imprint on the nation's strategic defense. What You'll Own
• Stakeholder Synchronization - Lead cross functional workshops, align expectations, and keep communication clear and decisive.
• Milestone Delivery - Translate program schedules into actionable team plans; track progress and ensure on time, high quality deliverables.
• System Architecture & CONOPS - Define the overarching system concept, develop architecture, and decompose it into verifiable requirements.
• Flight Science Coordination - Partner with flight science groups for verification, root cause investigations, and performance validation.
• Interface & Integration Management - Create robust interface control documents, drive hardware integration, and design test plans.
• Capability On Ramping - Engineer new mission functions while preserving the integrity of the primary war head mission.
• Technical Reviews & Safety - Chair design, product, and safety reviews; ensure compliance with all applicable standards.
• Anomaly Resolution - Lead investigations, synthesize data, and drive issues to closed loop resolution.
• Production & Test Support - Provide real time systems expertise at component manufacturers and Strategic Weapons Facilities.
• Process Improvement - Identify and implement efficiencies in build flow, test execution, and data handling.
What You Bring
• 10+ years of systems engineering experience on complex aerospace or defense programs (missile, launch, or similar).
• Proven ability to translate high level concepts into concrete system requirements and verify them through testing.
• Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills; comfortable interfacing with senior Navy officials and senior industry leaders.
• Hands on experience with environmental analysis, logistics, stowage, launch, and flight phase modeling.
• Demonstrated success leading design reviews, safety assessments, and anomaly investigations.
• Proficiency with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, requirement management suites, and data analysis packages.
• U.S. Security Clearance (or ability to obtain) and willingness to work at government controlled facilities.
Basic Qualifications:
• Demonstrated Knowledge and application of Systems Engineering processes and one or more Systems Integration functions including:
- System trade studies methodology and/or System modeling
- Requirements and Interface Control Document (ICD) development
- System Integration, Test and/or Verification
- Test planning and execution with an understanding of all the interdependencies
- Thermal interface or design requirements at the component, box level, or system level design reviews
• Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance, therefore, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Desired Skills:
• Engineering Degree in Systems, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent years of experience).
• Working knowledge of missile/spacecraft level thermal design, requirements, analysis
Experience with writing thermal design and operating requirements based on analytical thermal models
• Technical writing experience with writing formal technical position papers/letters to the customer
• Familiar with Agile tools and methodology (JIRA) and demonstrated digital transformation experience.
• Familiar with spacecraft/missile architecture design, development, integration, test, with knowledge of space, missile and launch systems at the component through system level
• Validated understanding of systems thinking skills and behaviors
• Proven track record of good judgment and programmatic execution vital to meet technical requirements while balancing schedules and budget obligations
• Ability to operate in a dynamic environment and tackle numerous roles as part of the daily program operations
• Demonstrated behaviors of a systems problem solver; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve very sophisticated problems and implement constructive change
• Active Top Secret DoD security clearance.
