Job Title: Psychological Health Coordinator (PHC)
Position Summary:
DAWSON is currently seeking an applicant for a Psychological Health Coordinator (PHC) position supporting the Florida Army National Guard (FLARNG). The Psychological Health Coordinator promotes psychological health, resilience, and medical readiness among Soldiers by providing behavioral health resource coordination, case management, outreach, and consultation services. Serving as a key member of the readiness team, the PHC works closely with military leadership, medical personnel, chaplains, Military and Family Readiness staff, civilian healthcare providers, and community organizations to support Soldiers experiencing behavioral health challenges and to facilitate access to appropriate resources and services.
The PHC is responsible for coordinating behavioral health referrals, monitoring case progress, conducting outreach and follow-up activities, and supporting initiatives designed to enhance Soldier readiness, retention, and overall well-being. The position provides education and training on resilience, stress management, suicide prevention, and psychological health awareness while supporting critical incident response efforts and behavioral health program initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, and maintain confidentiality while adhering to Department of Defense, National Guard Bureau, and Florida Army National Guard policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide non-clinical case management and care coordination services for Soldiers with behavioral health concerns.
- Coordinate referrals and facilitate access to military, civilian, VA, TRICARE, and community behavioral health resources.
- Conduct outreach, follow-up, and case monitoring to ensure continuity of care and support treatment compliance.
- Collaborate with commanders, medical personnel, chaplains, Military and Family Readiness staff, and external providers to address behavioral health needs impacting readiness.
- Deliver briefings, educational presentations, and training related to resilience, stress management, suicide prevention, and psychological health.
- Support behavioral health readiness initiatives and identify trends that may impact Soldier performance and unit readiness.
- Maintain accurate case documentation, reports, and program metrics in accordance with contract and government requirements.
- Participate in critical incident response activities and provide resource coordination during crises.
- Promote awareness of available psychological health programs and encourage early intervention and help-seeking behaviors.
- Travel throughout the state of Florida to support FLARNG units, events, and readiness activities as required.
Qualifications:
Must possess the following:
- An earned master’s degree in an applied field of the social and behavioral sciences (mental health counseling, social work, etc.).
- Shall have a minimum of two years’ experience in the application of clinical mental health principles.
- Shall be licensed in good standing in the State of Florida within his/her respective discipline.
- Experience/knowledge of military culture.
- Knowledge of common assessment tools used by behavioral health professionals to complete evaluations.
- Excellent customer service skills and experience interacting with difficult clientele face to face, via email, and on the telephone.
- Shall have the ability to work independently without supervision and also as part of a team.
- Basic skills and knowledge of operating office equipment such as computer, scanner, printer, fax.
- Personal Computer (PC) proficiency, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Preferred skill to have is working knowledge of the regulations and policies that apply to Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) and deployment.
