PRISM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Elastic Search Engineer. This position is remote.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and mentor a small team of junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Interface with the client to understand their needs and provide technical solutions.
- Administer and manage a self-managed Elasticsearch cluster on VMs, transitioning to Elasticsearch on Kubernetes (ECK) using helm charts for tech refreshes.
- Utilize Ansible for the installation of monitoring tools and leverage PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
- Optimize and integrate all components of the Elastic Stack in a complex technical environment, with a focus on peak performance.
- Manage, secure, and optimize Linux servers in a high-availability environment.
- Respond to incidents with a calm and effective approach, demonstrating excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Monitor Java applications to ensure performance and reliability.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS/EDUCATION):
- 3 years of experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Sec + or Ability to obtain
- Technical Lead Experience: Proven track record in leading a technical team within a federal data center environment, ensuring high availability and performance of critical systems.
- Elasticsearch Expertise: Hands-on experience in administering a self-managed Elasticsearch cluster on VMs and transitioning to Elasticsearch on Kubernetes (ECK) using helm charts for tech refreshes.
- Scripting and Automation Proficiency: Strong skills in Ansible for the installation of monitoring tools, along with expertise in PowerShell and Bash scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
- Elastic Stack Knowledge: Deep understanding of all components of the Elastic Stack and their integration in a complex technical environment, with the ability to optimize for peak performance. Knowledge of APM would be especially impactful.
- Linux Administration: Solid foundation in Linux system administration, with expertise in managing, securing, and optimizing Linux servers in a high-availability environment.
- Incident Response and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to lean into incident response with a calm and effective approach, alongside excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Java Applications Monitoring: High-level understanding of Java applications, particularly from a monitoring perspective, to ensure application performance and reliability.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Proven experience in mentoring junior team members and leading by example to foster a culture of continuous learning and team development.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Additional Scripting Languages: Familiarity with other scripting languages beyond PowerShell and Bash, such as Python, to broaden automation and tool development capabilities.
- Cloud Technologies: Exposure to cloud technologies and platforms, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Containerization and Orchestration Experience: While Kubernetes expertise is critical, additional experience with Docker and other containerization technologies would be advantageous for monitoring containerized applications.
