The United States Space Force (USSF) at WPAFB, Dayton, OH is searching for a Director of Data and Future Technology Division to support NSIC S9 (GG-0132-14).
Description:
We are looking for a visionary and technical leader to join the National Space Intelligence Center (NSIC) at Wright-Patterson AFB as the Director of the Data and Future Technology Division. If you are passionate about driving the future of space domain intelligence through data, AI, and cloud innovation, this is your opportunity to make a national impact. In this role, you will lead a highly specialized 7-member team including Technical Experts like the NSIC Lead Data Engineer guiding staff across squadrons and the NSIC Principal Cloud Architect steering cloud contractors. Every day, you will empower this multi-disciplinary team to tackle complex, mission-critical challenges in data analytics, cybersecurity, networking, and hybrid cloud computing to ensure freedom of access and maneuver in the space domain.
On a daily basis, you will also serve as the NSIC Commander's representative to rapidly identify and adopt game-changing commercial technologies. You will integrate and publish NSIC's data schema to achieve VAULTIS intelligence goals and manage the USSF Space Threat Modeling and Simulation Committee on behalf of the NSIC Commander. Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a dynamic, communicative leader with a proven track record of designing data-driven technology solutions and leading cross-functional teams. You must possess prior federal civilian supervisory and leadership experience, alongside a Master's or PhD degree that meets the STEM requirements for the role. Your background should demonstrate formidable problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, ranging from joint force warfighters and acquisition professionals to senior national leaders.
Key technical experience should include hands-on knowledge of industry tools and methodologies across data analytics and management, cybersecurity, AI/ML architectures, and the design and integration of hybrid cloud solutions. You must have a broad understanding of IC, Department of the Air Force (DAF), DoD, and national-level guidelines to ensure strategic alignment and policy application. Furthermore, the ideal candidate brings strong project management skills to oversee major technical initiatives, a deep understanding of how data architecture integrates with broader operational workflows, and the collaborative influence needed to build strong relationships across matrixed project teams. A practical assessment will be administered to validate technical qualifications. (Note: Common correlating industry or government titles for this background include Chief Data and AI Officer or Chief Technology and Innovation Officer).
Highly Preferred Requirements
1. Experience designing, implementing, and securing technology and software development stacks within classified environments (specifically at the Secret and Top Secret/SCI levels).
2. Completed a minimum of 30 academic semester hours of technical coursework focused on Artificial Intelligence, Database Design, Data Management, Network Design, Cloud Architecture, or Network Architecture.
3. Demonstrated experience coordinating and aligning complex Modeling and Simulation (M&S) architectures across local, joint, and federated external stakeholders.
4. Proven leadership of cross-functional technical teams that include Engineers (Occupational Series GG-0801), Computer Scientists (Occupational Series GG-1550), and Information Technology Specialists (Occupational Series GG-2210).
Pay Range - Specific technical skills are required for this position, will qualify the individual for Talent Labor Market Supplement (TLMS). Salary range w/TLMS: $ 146,807 - $195,200

- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
