The Engineering Technician V will be part of an active and dynamic project team at various Navy Bases (US and International), Shipyards (SY) in San Diego and other states. Bring your professional expertise, experience and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our US Navy's Defense and safety of our sailors.

Serco supports the US NAVY as a prime contractor for their Hardware Installation of C4ISR and Network related systems on US Navy Ships.

You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco functional area teams to deliver quality systems and associated supporting documentation. The team has been recognized by the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Customer and the industry for their outstanding contributions to the contract and program.

In this role, you will:
  • Plan and perform routine and non-routine hardware installation and integration assignments of substantial variety and complexity that are typically part of broader assignments.
  • Install various equipment racks, computers, and other Government furnished material but not limited to or simple models; adapt standard equipment; troubleshoot and correct errors and or malfunctions.
  • Follow specific layout and drawing diagrams to install and execute simple devices and subunits of equipment
  • Conduct tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of installation, test equipment and test procedures, prepare and operate equipment, record data, measure and record problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level, and analyze data and prepare test reports
  • Apply methods outlined by others to limited segments of research and development projects, construct experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements; conduct tests or experiments and redesigns as necessary and record and evaluate data and report findings
  • Lead installation teams throughout the project and tasking(s).
  • Executes and applies the following Std Items:
    • NAVSEA Std Items FY24 CH-1
    • NAVSEA Tech Spec TS9090-310G Rev 1
    • MIL-Std Items 2003-5A
    • NAVSEA Tech Pub Industrial Ship Safety Manual
    • DoD Instruction 5200.48


To be successful in this role, you must have:
  • A Current DOD Secret clearance
  • 10 years of experience (Shipboard experience highly preferred)
  • A High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience with the Hardware Installation of C4ISR and Network related system on-board US Navy ships / vessels
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.


Additional desired experience and skills:
  • Experience in assisting in the development and maintenance of network communications
  • Knowledge of CANES, NMT, SSEE INC F, CBSP and other SATCOM systems to install internal and external networks
  • Support Systems Operation Verification Testing (SOVT) throughout and until completion
  • Troubleshooting and correcting network errors/faults during design, fabrication, assembly, configuration, and integration phases
  • Experience with C4ISR and Network Related Systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Project).
  • Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 Professional
