Job Description

Duties

  • As a Supervisory Operations Research Analyst, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
  • Develop guidance for analysis that affects future Army training strategies and investment decisions.
  • Direct and supervise studies to support requirement development, research and acquisition of Training Support System (TSS) initiatives.
  • Provide intensive systematic exploration of problems of an unprecedented nature or of problems that have not previously been susceptible to analysis by the operations research approach.
  • Participate in the development of research, analysis and strategy activities.
  • Develop performance standards, prepares performance appraisals, approves leave, and receives and attempts to resolve complaints, referring group grievances and more serious complaints not resolved to higher level.
  • Review work accomplishment in relation to meeting objectives and conformance with time phases or scheduled plans of projects.
  • Utilize collaborative tools to facilitate team interaction, communications and presentations, document management, and conduct team and project management.
  • Maintain liaison with other research agencies to identify and coordinate issues and opportunities for shared research and investigation.
  • Represent organization in meetings, seminars, conferences and other public forums.

For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in operations research or successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 hours must be in calculus.

In addition to meeting the basic education requirement above, you must also meet the specialized experience requirements below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) applying knowledge of operations research techniques to solve complex problems, 2) assisting with developing guidance for analysis that affects future training strategies and decisions, and 3) communicating and producing operations research analysis products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
