Network Engineer V - (C) DLIFLC

Job Overview:

The Network Engineer IV serves as the contract lead for advanced network engineering, responsible for wired and wireless network performance monitoring, network optimization, testing, IT project management, implementation of network security controls, advanced troubleshooting, and analysis of all elements of the network infrastructure. This position requires a strong background in team management, project leadership, and hands-on network engineering in a complex, multi-site environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor network engineering staff.
• Oversee network performance, optimization, and troubleshooting activities.
• Coordinate and manage network-related projects and initiatives.
• Monitor and optimize wired and wireless network performance across all DLIFLC sites.
• Conduct advanced troubleshooting and analysis of network infrastructure, identifying and resolving complex issues.
• Implement and manage network security controls to ensure compliance with DoD and Army standards.
• Lead IT network projects, including planning, execution, and documentation.
• Test and validate network changes, upgrades, and new deployments.
• Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and data center teams to ensure seamless network operations.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior network engineers and IT staff.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident resolutions.
• Participate in meetings, briefings, and training sessions as required.
• Ensure compliance with all security, safety, and environmental requirements.

Competencies:

• Advanced knowledge of network engineering concepts, protocols, and technologies (LAN, WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, network security).

Requirements

Minimum Requirements/Education:

• BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in Network Engineering, or AA/AS with 7+ years of experience.
• Any one of the following: IAT Level II (CySA+, Security+, CND, or SSCP) Certification and CE/OS Certification.
• Specialized experience: 7 years of progressive experience in computer system/network engineering, including 2 years of specialized experience related to the tasks.

Security Requirement:

• Active Secret Clearence

Location/Travel Requirements:

Based in Monterey, CA (Presidio of Monterey) with travel to additional sites including HI, AZ, CA, VA, and other CONUS/OCONUS locations as outlined in the PWS.
