Job Summary:
B&A is looking for a Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure GovCloud) to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer with expertise in AWS and Azure GovCloud environments to support DoD data and infrastructure initiatives. The ideal candidate will design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable, and compliant cloud architectures supporting mission-critical systems while ensuring adherence to DoD and federal security frameworks.

Job Summary:
B&A is looking for a Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure GovCloud) to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer with expertise in AWS and Azure GovCloud environments to support DoD data and infrastructure initiatives. The ideal candidate will design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable, and compliant cloud architectures supporting mission-critical systems while ensuring adherence to DoD and federal security frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain GovCloud-based cloud infrastructures across AWS and Azure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Architect and implement secure cloud environments, including networking, virtualization, and containerization solutions.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Support hybrid and multi-cloud architectures, including VPC peering, cross-domain solutions, and secure cloud integrations.
- Implement and manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) and role-based access control (RBAC) policies.
- Configure and optimize cloud networking components, including VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and security groups.
- Lead or support Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, including:
- Preparing System Security Plans (SSP)
- Developing Security Assessment Reports (SAR)
- Managing Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&M)
- Ensure compliance with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST 800-53 Rev. 5, FedRAMP, and DoD IL-4/IL-5 requirements.
- Perform continuous monitoring and compliance assessments for cloud environments.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) and enforce security controls.
- Optimize cloud environments for compute, storage, and networking efficiency while maintaining security and compliance.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
OR - Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud engineering
Required Skills:
- Personnel must have experience designing, deploying, and managing AWS and Azure cloud environments with a focus on security, automation, and scalability.
- Required expertise includes Identity and Access Management (IAM), role-based access control (RBAC), Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), and cloud networking configurations such as VPC peering, subnets, VPNs, and security groups.
- Personnel must demonstrate proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates, ensuring secure and scalable deployments.
- Experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) processes is required, including preparing System Security Plans (SSP), Security Assessment Reports (SAR), and Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&M), and maintaining compliance with DoD governance frameworks and NIST requirements.
- Personnel must also collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security controls in accordance with FedRAMP, RMF, and DoD IL-4/IL-5 security mandates, while optimizing cloud resource allocation for efficiency.
Desired Skills:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, and Google Professional Cloud Architect.
