The Hardware Engineering Department at Northrop Grumman is looking for a Principal (or Sr. Principal) Configuration Management Specialist in Cincinnati, OH. Essential Duties:
  • Design and Execute a Best in Class CM/DM Strategy - Craft a seamless configuration management and data management framework that aligns with EIA 649 standards and each customer's contract terms.
  • Drive Documentation Excellence - Lead the planning, coordination, and release of engineering drawings, production specs, schedules, and contract modifications to guarantee flawless compliance.
  • Assess Impact of Design Changes - evaluate proposed product modifications, quantify effects on system performance, cost, and schedule, and present clear recommendations.
  • Manage Change Records End to End - create, track, and control modification records, ensuring rigorous management oversight and traceability.
  • Lead Change Order Authorization - initiate and shepherd change orders through approval cycles, coordinating with both internal teams and subcontractors.
  • Synchronize Engineering Change Data - partner with engineering, quality, operations, and data control groups to implement released changes smoothly across the product line.
  • Leverage Siemens Teamcenter - act as the subject matter expert for the Northrop Grumman CM tool, maintaining document status, BOM integrity, and audit readiness.


Our engineering work includes full life-cycle programs including design, development, system integration, hands-on test, training, and production. The ideal candidate will have knowledge in electrical engineering, component engineering and will be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings. The successful candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities. The successful candidate will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish team goals.

This position can be filled at the Principal or Sr. Principal level.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Configuration Management Specialist:
  • 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years with a Masters; 0 years with PhD; 9 years of experience can be used in lieu of a degree
  • Experience in configuration management
  • Experience with Teamcenter or other PLM
  • US Citizenship is required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance (NG will sponsor)
  • Ability to work 100% onsite


Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Configuration Management Specialist:
  • 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; 6 years with a Masters; 3 years with PhD; 12 years of experience can be used in lieu of a degree
  • Experience in configuration management
  • Experience with Teamcenter or other PLM
  • US Citizenship is required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance (NG will sponsor)
  • Ability to work 100% onsite


Preferred Qualifications for both:
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience with Teamcenter web-based Active Workspace
  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Configuration Management certification from NDIA, CMPIC, or CMII organization preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5M -1994 or later.
  • Expert level skill set for administering PDM/PLM, data management applications (i.e. Siemens Teamcenter)
  • Knowledge in Electrical component engineering is a plus
  • Self-starter and willing to learn new tools


Primary Level Salary Range: $85,600.00 - $128,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $106,800.00 - $160,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
