Job Description
Piper Companies is seeking a Scientist - Infectious Disease Therapeutics to join a leading government-focused research organization supporting national biodefense initiatives for a fully onsite 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity in Frederick, MD. The Scientist - Infectious Disease Therapeutics will serve as a senior-level scientific contributor responsible for leading infectious disease studies and advancing the development of vaccines and therapeutic countermeasures in a high-containment laboratory environment.
Responsibilities of the Scientist - Infectious Disease Therapeutics include:
· Lead the design, execution, and analysis of in vitro and in vivo studies focused on infectious diseases and therapeutic effectiveness.
· Oversee animal model research, including study coordination, dosing strategies, and collaboration with veterinary teams.
· Evaluate bacterial and viral disease mechanisms while supporting development of vaccines and medical countermeasures.
· Develop and refine assays and screening approaches to assess therapeutic performance and biological activity.
· Communicate findings through technical reports, presentations, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications for the Scientist - Infectious Disease Therapeutics include:
· Ph.D. in Microbiology, Immunology, Virology, Infectious Disease, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related field.
· Proven experience conducting infectious disease research involving bacterial and/or viral pathogens.
· Strong background working with animal models and executing in vivo efficacy studies.
· Ability to work in regulated laboratory environments and willingness to obtain necessary federal clearances and program certifications.
· Excellent scientific communication, data interpretation, and technical writing skills.
· Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance and willingness to complete required federal reliability programs.e
Compensation for the Scientist - Infectious Disease Therapeutics:
Salary Range: $40-$45/hr (USD)
