Job Description
Piper Companies is seeking a Lab Technician IV - In Vivo Research to join a cutting-edge federal research environment supporting infectious disease and biodefense initiatives in a fully onsite 6-month contract-to-hire position located in Frederick, MD. The Lab Technician IV - In Vivo Research will play a key role in supporting preclinical studies and high-containment laboratory operations for a leading government-affiliated research program.
Responsibilities for the Lab Technician IV - In Vivo Research include:
· Assist in conducting animal-based research studies, including handling, dosing, monitoring, and supporting procedural activities across multiple species
· Perform collection and preparation of biological samples such as blood, tissues, and swabs, ensuring proper handling and tracking throughout the study lifecycle
· Support laboratory workflows by preparing reagents, maintaining supplies, and assisting in general lab upkeep and compliance readiness
· Execute basic laboratory techniques including cell-based assays and virology-related testing under regulated conditions
· Document study activities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to data review and reporting in accordance with laboratory standards
Qualifications for the Lab Technician IV - In Vivo Research include:
· Bachelor's degree in a life sciences discipline such as Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, or a related field
· Minimum of 4 years of hands-on laboratory experience supporting animal research studies
· Practical experience working with laboratory animals, including dosing, specimen collection, and tissue handling
· Familiarity with biological sample processing and maintaining thorough laboratory documentation in regulated settings
· Willingness and ability to work with animals and obtain required federal clearances and reliability program certifications
Compensation for the Lab Technician IV - In Vivo Research:
Salary Range: $32-$36/hr (USD)
