Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal GNC Engineer to support the Sentinel Program in Roy, UT.
What You'll Get to Do:
The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to join the team supporting enhanced ground testing activities to prove GNC algorithm development and implementation, "test as you fly" test development, model verification and validation, and requirements validation.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

What You'll Get to Do:

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
- Implement guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) algorithms in a system level test environment
- Develop software tools for analyzing GN&C performance
- Conduct system performance assessments for performance against mission requirements
- Perform GN&C system and accuracy analysis of flight tests
Basic Qualifications:
- 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Year with PhD
- Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- 3+ years' experience in guidance, navigation, or control algorithm development and/or analysis for launch vehicles, missiles, spacecraft, and/or aircraft applications
- Knowledge of system integration and test principles and processes
- Basic Knowledge of systems engineering principles including requirement decomposition and allocation of requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of aerodynamic modeling, flight mechanics, missile/re-entry vehicle dynamics
- Experience in sensor navigation, including inertial, radio, and/or optical navigation techniques
- Proficiency in technical writing and documentation
- Experience in strategic missile guidance and implementation of guidance algorithms
Preferred Qualifications:
- U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance
- Master's or PhD Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Experience working in an Agile team or even leading a scrum team
- Experience with Object-Oriented Programming
- Knowledge of estimation and control theory, such as Kalman filtering
- Experience with linear stability analysis to determine control system stability margins
- Experience modeling navigation sensors, such as IMU or GPS
- Experience in trajectory optimization, non-linear control, and/or adaptive/autonomous flight control systems
- Experience defining test objectives based on test requirements, VCRM and interface and specification documentation
- Experience with data collection/instrumentation (methods, hardware, setup, and troubleshooting)
