Job Description

Mechanical Engineer needed for a contract opportunity with SOC's client onsite in Tucson, AZ.

Contract Length: 12-Months

**Must have an active Secret Clearance to be considered for this role**

Job Description:
Our Client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, integration, testing, and production of complex hardware systems and critical defense-related products. This individual will play a key role throughout the product lifecycle, contributing to mechanical hardware design, system integration, validation, and production support activities.

The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical design experience with hands-on hardware development expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams. This position works closely with electrical, systems, software, manufacturing, and test engineers to ensure successful product development from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and support hardware for complex systems and test equipment.
  • Support product development activities including concept definition, detailed design, analysis, integration, testing, validation, and transition to production.
  • Create, maintain, and release engineering documentation, technical drawings, and design packages.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to engineering decisions throughout the development process.
  • Support hardware integration, system validation, and troubleshooting activities to ensure product performance and reliability.
  • Investigate technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, systems, software, manufacturing, and test engineering organizations.
  • Support production programs by providing engineering solutions, resolving design issues, and implementing design improvements.
  • Contribute to the fabrication, integration, and packaging of electronic assemblies, shelter assemblies, and power distribution equipment when applicable.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, quality, and program requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM discipline.
  • 5-10 years of experience supporting hardware development programs.
  • Experience with mechanical design, engineering documentation, and product lifecycle development.
  • Proven experience supporting products from concept development through production and production support.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing individual responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the design, fabrication, integration, or packaging of electronic assemblies, shelter systems, or power distribution equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D CAD design tools and product data management systems.
  • Proficiency with Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD modeling tools.
  • Experience using mechanical analysis and product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
  • Prior experience leading small to mid-sized technical teams or engineering efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of designs and drive projects to successful completion.
