Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with workload distribution among subordinate employees; providing administrative guidance to medical facility managers regarding policies/regulations; analyzing medical treatment facility (MTF) operational performance for trends or deviations in Patient Relations; and assisting with the development of procedures and related trainings for MTF staff to improve Patient Relations performance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09)

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Additional information
- Responsible for the Patient Relations Department, conducts surveys, complies data, statistics and analyzes the data results for periodic reports.
- Works to train/re-train personnel, and establish/refine to maximize efficiency in support of clinic operations.
- Maintains liaison with higher echelons staff in Patient Administration, Chairmen of departments, Executive and Commanding Officers, other offices at Naval Medical Center and the Administrative section.
- Assists in the monitoring of the quality of care and works in conjunction to correct problems.
- Responsible for the establishment and maintenance of all non-personnel contracts, ensuring maximum value for the government.
- Supervised employees may include Federal civilian employees, federal military or uniformed service employees, volunteers or other noncontractor personnel.
- Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
