Title: Purchasing Agent
Client: U.S. Army
Location: Picatinny Arsenal (NJ), Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst (NJ)

Position Overview
The U.S. Army is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and experienced Purchasing Agent to support mission-critical procurement and supply chain operations at Picatinny Arsenal and Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst, New Jersey. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the timely acquisition, coordination, and delivery of materials, equipment, and services necessary to support Army operational readiness and ammunition-related programs.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage end-to-end procurement and purchasing activities in support of U.S. Army programs and operational requirements.
• Coordinate purchasing functions related to Army-funded ammunition contracts, including sourcing, acquisition planning, order placement, and supplier management.
• Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with qualified commercial vendors and suppliers capable of meeting technical, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, terms, and conditions to achieve cost savings and maximize procurement efficiency.
• Monitor supplier and vendor performance to ensure compliance with contract requirements, delivery timelines, and quality standards.
• Prepare, review, and maintain procurement documentation, purchase orders, vendor agreements, and acquisition records in accordance with company policies and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with logistics, program management, operations, and Government personnel to forecast procurement needs and support mission execution.
• Analyze purchasing trends, supplier performance metrics, and procurement data to identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Resolve procurement-related issues, discrepancies, shipment delays, and vendor concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure all procurement activities comply with applicable DoD regulations, federal acquisition standards, and internal quality assurance procedures.
• Support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requirements associated with government contracts and purchasing operations.
• Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure continuity of supply and successful program support.
Required Qualifications
• Experience supporting or handling Army-funded ammunition contracts.
• Active Secret Security Clearance required at the time of hire.
• Strong understanding of procurement operations, purchasing procedures, and supply chain management principles.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and procurement activities simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Desired Qualifications
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in:
o Purchasing and procurement operations
o Negotiating price reductions and supplier agreements
o Monitoring vendor and supplier performance
o Managing commercial supply sources and procurement relationships
• Prior experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Army, or federal government programs preferred.
• Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations, government contracting procedures, and ammunition or defense-related procurement environments.
• Experience working in highly regulated operational or military support environments.
• Strong proficiency with procurement systems, purchasing software, and Microsoft Office applications.
Work Environment
This position operates within a dynamic federal contracting and defense support environment requiring attention to detail, responsiveness, and the ability to manage sensitive procurement activities in support of military operations and mission objectives.

Clearance Requirement
Candidates must possess and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance throughout the duration of employment.
