Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Data Transfer Analyst. This position will be in Huntsville, AL and will support the Sentinel program.
The Assured File Data Transfer (AFT) Analyst is responsible for applying expert subject-matter knowledge to perform data transfers across multiple classifications by conducting thorough reviews of release materials to ensure full compliance with the Security Classification Guide and all applicable classification, marking, and release policies. The Analyst also identifies and escalates classification concerns, refuses approval when release eligibility is unclear, and documents review outcomes to ensure risks are addressed and issues are resolved.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the assigned subject matter and all applicable classification, marking, and release requirements.
• Perform thorough, end-to-end reviews of materials requested for release, validating classification accuracy, sensitivity, and release eligibility.
• Acknowledge Subject Matter Expert (SME) expectations and potential data spill implications prior to approving any High-to-Low Assured File Transfer.
• Communicate classification or release eligibility concerns promptly and clearly to the Assured File Transfer (AFT) Subject Matter Expert (SME) and other appropriate stakeholders.
• Refuse to sign off when classification is uncertain (including by compilation or aggregation) or when information cannot be released at the requested level; escalate for adjudication as required.
• Document review decisions, rationale, and required changes; track issues through resolution.
• Complete required training (e.g., CAD Reviewer SME training and periodic refreshers) and remain current with policy updates.
BQs:
• Principal Data Transfer Analyst: At least 5 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree; 3 years with Masters; 1 years with PhD; 4 years additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
• Sr. Principal Data Transfer Analyst: At least 8 years of relevant experience with Bachelor's degree; 6 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD; 4 years additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Required for Both Levels:
• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
• Must be able to conduct rigorous reviews of program materials prior to public or external release.
• Experience working within an Integrated Product Team (IPT)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Project
• Ability to communicate with multiple levels of the organization having excellent presentation skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required clearances applicable to the role.
PQ's:
• Proven subject-matter expertise in the relevant domain, with the ability to interpret and apply classification and releasability guidance.
• Experience reviewing materials for classification, markings, and external release eligibility within a compliance- or security-driven environment.
• Working knowledge of applicable policies, standards, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., organizational classification guides; government/agency-specific handling and release rules; export controls as applicable).
• Completion of, or ability to complete, required SME training (e.g., CAD reviewer SME training) prior to assuming sign-off responsibilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail, risk awareness, and professional judgment; willingness to halt or refuse release when warranted.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate concerns and decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to operate independently under deadlines while maintaining thoroughness and precision.
Primary Level Salary Range: $89,900.00 - $134,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $112,200.00 - $168,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
