Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 2. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel Program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
The selected candidate will be responsible for a Logistics and Systems Engineering discipline Section within the SDS Systems Engineering organization and will report directly to an SDS Systems Engineering Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of between 8 and 12 Individual Contributors (ICs) based on goals, objectives, and company policy. Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, as well as staffing of roles on projects.
As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your effort on Functional Homeroom responsibilities with 80% of your efforts focused on a technical assignment on an SDS project or IPT where the selected candidate will provide technical and administrative leadership and guidance to the Sentinel Business Units, Operating Units, and Suppliers. This includes managing a team comprised of both technical and program support personnel required to resolve technical issues, ensure compliance to both technical and contractual obligations, and ultimately to ensure compliance with the technical performance metrics (TPMs) documented within the contract Statement of Work (SOW) requirements.
The successful candidate will be experienced in systems engineering with one or more of the following specific skills: Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo), Requirements Management (DOORS), Verification Planning, and Interface definition and planning.
What You'll Get To Do:
• People leadership for a Sentinel logistics and systems engineering organization, to include performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning.
• Provide project and technical oversight for activities performed by the group.
• Provide ownership of and direction to the processes used by the group.
• Create a vision for an engineering and logistics team and work to make that vision a reality.
• Provide proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers.
• Lead a diverse team of engineers performing project development, technical requirements review, system support, planning and sustainment for a diverse set of products in the missile, air and space domains.
• Responsible for the strategic implementation of skills and labor mix; employee development; mentoring; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
• Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizations to ensure successful task completion and customer satisfaction.
• Responsibilities also include horizontal integration of best practices across the organization; maintaining cognizance over technical activities; and ensuring execution of project statement of work and baselines.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.
• Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.
• Develop and adhere to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost & schedule control methodologies and tools
• Identify risks and opportunities and coordinate with project teams to mitigate and retire risks
• Ensure the program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and manages change through control board activities
• Adhere to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards
• Deliver presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholders
• Travel required to support supplier integration and test activities
• Supporting FHR efforts in areas of process improvement, training and staffing

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree and at least 8 years of related experience; OR at least 6 Years of relevant experience with a master's degree or in lieu of degree an additional 4 years of related experience
• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years with ability to obtain Top Secret
• Experienced in Systems Engineering processes, Logistics Engineering processes, and the 12 elements of Integrated Product Support
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• 1+ years of experience providing technical leadership of a project
• 4+ years' experience with ICBM weapon system logistics, operations, security, and subsystem integration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer focused mindset.
• Experience in the nuclear surety aspects of nuclear weapon systems
• Experienced in all aspects of the engineering development lifecycle
• Proficient with Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
• Demonstrate a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
