At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We're creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision. We're erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We're advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation. And we're re-imagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity.
Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you.
• Generating and simulating operational level plans to explore the art of the possible, how we could defend the ultimate high ground in a future space war
• Dynamically optimizing both terrestrial and space-based sensors to provide comprehensive space domain awareness
• Strategically optimizing the placement and maneuvering of constellations of satellites to satisfy multiple, evolving priorities
Our team leverages industry standard open-source software solutions such as GitLab, Kubernetes, and Helm. Our automation-first and "everything as code" mindset allows our software engineers to focus their time and efforts on what is most important - building cutting edge functionality for our end users.
Basic Qualifications:

• Agile Delivery Experience: Demonstrated ability to work in Agile development environments, leveraging tools such as JIRA and Confluence for task tracking, sprint planning, and documentation.
• Security Certification Requirement: Possession of an IAT Level II (8140-compliant) certification - e.g., Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc. If not already held, the candidate must obtain the certification within 60 days of start-date.
• Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required; Active Top-Secret/SCI clearance required to start. Position is located in a facility requiring special access.
Desired Skills:
• Technical Leadership: Recent experience serving as a technical lead (architecture design, technical research, project management).
• Automation & Scripting Proficiency: Development or scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, Ansible, or comparable automation tools to streamline network provisioning and compliance.
• Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Exposure: Hands-on work in network-focused SRE functions such as automation, incident response, performance monitoring, capacity planning, metrics development, and security hardening.
• Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal skills; capable of producing clear technical presentations, Visio/network diagrams, and collaborating effectively within high-performing engineering teams.
• Team-Oriented Delivery: Proven track record of building strong relationships across functional groups and consistently delivering high-quality results on schedule.
• Security Design Knowledge: Intermediate to advanced understanding of security architectures, secure coding/configuration practices, and testing methodologies; able to synthesize findings and advise leadership on remediation.
• Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Ability to analyze complex network issues, develop root-cause analyses, and implement robust solutions in dynamic environments.
• Adaptability: Comfortable thriving in fast-paced, rapidly changing projects while maintaining focus on technical excellence.
