Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Software Engineer to join our team! In this role you will provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise for the design, development, and integration of advanced software solutions supporting tactical power delivery systems for Army programs. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to architect, implement, and sustain mission-critical applications and platforms.

Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Software Engineer to join our team! In this role you will provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise for the design, development, and integration of advanced software solutions supporting tactical power delivery systems for Army programs. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to architect, implement, and sustain mission-critical applications and platforms.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead the design, development, and integration of software for tactical power delivery systems, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware engineers, and program managers to define requirements, interfaces, and technical direction.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Develop and maintain software using Java, C++, Python, and modern frameworks in Linux/Redhat environments.
- Utilize development tools such as Eclipse, Webstorm, Visual Studio Code, and build systems including Ant, Maven, and Gradle.
- Integrate and interface with protocols and standards such as OMG-DDS, Modbus, and CAN Bus.
- Develop and maintain web applications using Node.js, Typescript, Angular, and MongoDB.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and automated testing using Jenkins, Fortify, and Atlassian products.
- Deploy and manage solutions on VMWare and Linux platforms, including the development of COTS installer scripts.
- Support integration with Tactical Assault Kit (TAK), NextGen C2, and other Army command and control systems.
- Manage source code and collaboration using Gitlab, VIPK, and Atlassian suite.
- Architect and implement backend services using Spring Boot and related technologies.
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation, briefings, and status reports for stakeholders and leadership.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Experience10-20 years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership in complex, mission-critical projects
- Technical: Deep expertise in Java, C++, Python, Linux, Redhat, Eclipse, Webstorm, Visual Studio Code, Ant, Maven, Gradle, OMG-DDS, Modbus, CAN Bus, Node.js, Typescript, Angular, MongoDB, Jenkins, Fortify, VMWare, COTS installer scripts, Spring Boot
- Army Domain: Desired experience with tactical power delivery systems for the Army, Tactical Assault Kit (TAK), NextGen C2
- Tools
- Experience with Atlassian products, Gitlab, VIPK
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Clearance: Active Secret security clearance

- Experience with Army or DoD tactical systems integration.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Advanced certifications in relevant technologies or platforms.
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering talent.
