We are seeking a Senior MUMPS Developer to support VA healthcare application development and sustainment. This role focuses on designing, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining MUMPS routines and related VistA functionality in support of pharmacy and clinical system workflows. The Senior MUMPS Developer works with technical and functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, maintainable software updates for mission-critical Federal healthcare systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain MUMPS routines supporting VistA-based applications.

·        Analyze software requirements, defects, and user-reported issues to determine appropriate MUMPS code changes.

·        Troubleshoot application behavior, data issues, workflow problems, and production or test environment defects.

·        Develop clean, maintainable code that supports system reliability, performance, and long-term sustainment.

·        Support unit testing, regression testing, defect resolution, and validation of software changes.

·        Collaborate with developers, testers, analysts, pharmacy informatics stakeholders, and Government customers to clarify requirements and resolve issues.

·        Prepare and maintain technical documentation, release notes, implementation notes, and related support materials.

·        Follow established development, configuration management, code review, security, and release support processes.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

·        5+ years of hands-on MUMPS development experience.

·        Experience designing, modifying, testing, and troubleshooting MUMPS routines in an enterprise application environment.

·        Experience supporting VistA or other MUMPS-based healthcare information systems.

·        Ability to analyze existing code, identify defects, implement fixes, and validate software changes.

·        Understanding of Agile SDLC practices, requirements analysis, testing, defect resolution, and release support.

·        Experience working with code repositories, issue tracking, and configuration management processes.

·        Ability to create clear technical documentation for code changes, troubleshooting steps, and implementation support.

·        Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

·        Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs, is a plus.

·        Experience supporting VA VistA, VistA Pharmacy, Outpatient Pharmacy, PRE Inbound ePrescribing, Meds-by-Mail, or related VA healthcare systems.

·        Experience with VistA patch support, national release activities, or sustainment support.

·        Familiarity with pharmacy workflows, prescription processing, electronic prescribing, or healthcare transaction concepts.

·        Understanding of Federal healthcare information security, privacy, PHI/PII protection, and VA compliance expectations.

·        Prior experience working with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy informatics personnel, or clinical operations stakeholders.

EDUCATION:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

CLEARANCE: 

·        Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

·        Remote
