The Work

TheData Engineer to support the design, development, and operation of an enterprise data integration and analytics environment. This role combines advanced data engineering, systems analysis, and technical leadership to enable reliable, scalable, and high‑quality data solutions.

The Data Engineer will:
  • Translate complex business objectives and analytical needs into technical requirements and data solutions.
  • Analyze user requirements, operational procedures, and existing systems to identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and enhanced data integration.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business and technical units to define data inputs, data transformation rules, and reporting/visualization outputs.
  • Produce detailed technical specifications and documentation describing user needs, system and program functionality, and steps required to develop or modify data integration components and applications.
  • Evaluate existing system capabilities, constraints, and schedules to determine the feasibility and optimal approach for requested changes and new development.

Responsibilities

  • Guide an agile development team through the full project lifecycle.
  • Designing and implementing data acquisition pipelines from a variety of data sources and technologies for multiple analytic and reporting use cases.
  • Developing complex SQL scripts (including Snowflake SQL) to transform source data into a dimensional model, and creating views and materialized views in relational databases (e.g., Oracle).
  • Developing automated ETL/ELT processes using Informatica PowerCenter and/or Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS) to pull data from external sources and transform it into a dimensional model.
  • Collaborating with other members of the Data Engineering team on the design, implementation, and optimization of data models and data flows.
  • Verifying and validating SQL scripts, Informatica automation, database views, and related integration components.
  • Designing and developing automated verification and validation processes to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Participating fully in agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives).
  • Working closely with architects and other engineering team members on implementation designs, data acquisition strategies, and technical solution patterns.
  • Developing prototypes and mockups and working directly with business and technical stakeholders to validate requirements and solution approaches.
  • Collaborating with team members to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Assisting with the implementation, configuration, and optimization of development tools and environments (e.g., code repositories, CI/CD pipelines, work management tools).
  • Producing and maintaining technical specifications, diagrams, data models, process flows, and other documentation required to support DD&I efforts.
  • Participating in requirements and design sessions with stakeholders to ensure technical solutions meet business needs.
  • Interpreting new and evolving business requirements, assessing their impact on the existing data integration hub, and proposing enhancements and changes to meet these requirements.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience developing mappings and workflows to automate ETL processes using Informatica PowerCenter and/or Informatica IICS
  • 8+ years of experience acquiring and integrating data from multiple data sources/technologies (Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, Access, Adobe PDF, etc.) using Informatica PowerCenter or IICS for consumption by data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • 8+ years of experience designing and developing complex, high‑performance Snowflake SQL scripts
  • 8+ years of experience as a systems analyst supporting data analytics, performance management, or data warehousing initiatives
  • 8+ years of experience with technical writing and diagramming, including proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Visio, Erwin, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and MS Project
  • 8+ years of experience planning and delivering software platforms used across multiple products and organizational units
  • Proven ability to write well‑designed, testable, and efficient code using industry best practices
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

Desired Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated in technical and business settings
  • 6+ years of experience effectively managing multiple responsibilities, prioritizing conflicting assignments, and context‑switching between tasks
  • 4+ years of experience working on an agile sprint team (Scrum or similar)
  • 4+ years of experience applying security principles to sensitive data, including healthcare, PII, and/or PHI
  • 4+ years of experience with modern software components used in performance metrics, data visualization, or business intelligence environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience in the healthcare industry
  • Prior experience working with PII and/or PHI in a regulated environment
  • 4+ years of experience designing and developing scripts using Python
  • 4+ years of experience using JIRA or similar agile work management tools
  • 2+ years of functional knowledge or hands‑on experience with web services (REST, SOAP, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience designing and developing code using Java and JavaScript
  • 2+ years of experience developing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitHub Actions, or similar tools
  • 2+ years of experience as a MuleSoft developer or integrating with MuleSoft APIs
  • 2+ years of experience using AI‑enabled data and integration tools such as Snowflake Cortex/Snowflake Intelligence and/or Informatica CLAIRE
