The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Industrial Technologies Office (ITO) accelerates the innovation and adoption of cost-effective technologies that position American industry to lead on the competitive stage in evolving global markets. ITO provides planning, management, and direction necessary for a balanced national program of research, development, demonstration, technical assistance, and workforce development to drive energy, materials, and production efficiency across the industrial sector.
About the Role:
The Industrial Technologies Office (ITO) is seeking a mid-career candidate to support a suite of technical assistance programs. The candidate is responsible for managing programs and initiatives that accelerate the adoption of best practices and innovative technologies in the industrial sector. The role requires familiarity with a broad range of industrial processes and equipment and an understanding of manufacturing business decision making including capital improvement projects, operational and maintenance practices, and workforce development. The selected contractor will advise industrial sector engagement interacting with experts in academia, industry, and at the national labs.
Responsibilities:
The position will have responsibilities in the following areas:
• Industrial Sector Engagement and Advisory.
• Advise and assist DOE technology experts in accelerating the adoption of best practices and emerging technologies within the industrial sector. Leverage deep knowledge of industrial processes, equipment, and organizational decision-making to engage with industry, guiding them to improve energy, water, and material efficiency.
• Technical Communication and Content Development.
• Develop technical documents and other content for a broad audience. Guide teams through the entire publication process, from idea development and drafting to reviewing, editing, and finalization. Translate complex technical information into concise, clear, and accessible language for reports, case studies, and other materials.
• Program Representation and Public Speaking.
• Act as a representative for DOE programs by delivering presentations and speaking publicly on best practices and emerging technologies in the industrial sector. Effectively communicate program goals, benefits, and technical details to diverse audiences, including industry stakeholders, partners, and the public.
• Project Management and Strategic Support.
• Provide strong project management for various initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope. Work effectively in a fast-moving environment, navigating uncertainty and contributing to the strategic direction of industrial efficiency programs. Maintain organization and coordinate team efforts to achieve programmatic objective.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or supporting industrial organizations.
• Ability to engage industry stakeholders and to help support decisions on a multimillion-dollar technical project portfolio.
• Strong organization and experience in project management.
• Experience with technical writing for broad audiences.
• Comfort with public speaking.
• Ability to interpret data from multiple sources and present it to leadership in a clear manner.
• Comfort working in fast-moving environments and navigating uncertainty.
• A passion for improving energy efficiency and industrial innovation.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Successful drug screening.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
Preferred qualifications:
• Advanced degree in Science or Engineering.
• Membership in pertinent associations is helpful.
Location/Work Arrangement:
• Located in the Washington DC area with a hybrid work arrangement.
• Schedule if full-time, Monday – Friday 40-hour week.
