Description:

You will be the Aircraft Structural Mechanic III with Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control in Lexington, KY. Our team is responsible for ensuring the airworthiness and optimal functionality of aircraft through scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, conducting structural maintenance and repair services, in support of Special Operations Forces Rotary Wing Platforms.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Aircraft Structural Mechanic III, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the airworthiness and optimal functionality of H-6, H-60, and H-47 aircraft.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshooting and repair.


  • Component repair and replacement.


  • Inspections and tests.


  • Technical documentation.


  • This senior level role leads complex unscheduled repairs, oversee large scale depot modifications, and mentors Level II and Level I Mechanics.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. A company-sponsored interim Secret clearance is required to start.

Basic Qualifications:

Aircraft Handling Expertise: Proficient in safe jacking, towing, and positioning of rotary-wing aircraft for structural work.

Maintenance Documentation: Ability to accurately record repairs, inspections, and modifications in maintenance logs, modification and production instructions, and military documentation systems.

Quality Assurance: Demonstrated track record of verifying work against stringent airworthiness and safety standards.

Depot & Flight Line Experience: Competent performing structural repairs in both environments with a focus on high tempo operations.

Leadership Capability: Experience supervising multi-disciplinary teams, allocating tasks, and ensuring safety compliance.

Security Clearance: Must possess or be eligible for Secret clearance (or higher) as required.

Desired Skills:

Specific / Adjacent Aircraft Experience: CH/MH-47, UH/MH-60, MD-500 / AH/MH-6, AH-64, OH-58D, or other Service Rotary Wing assets.

Expertise in performing troubleshooting, inspections, dimensional checks, repairing, and overhauling components.

The role will periodically require flexibility and agility between airframes supported in the organization, requiring your assignment on differ MDS aircraft.

Advanced Structural Techniques:

Mastery of precision sheet metal fabrication, high strength riveting, composite layup, and structural bonding.

Direct high complexity modifications to primary structures (frames, bulkheads, wing spars, tail assemblies, landing gear attachments, doors, hatches). Approve riveting, fastening, bonding, composite, and precision welding processes.

Proven ability to lead Level II and I Mechanics, provide oversight to fabrication, installation, and replacement of sheet metal and composite panels, fairings, and structural components. Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, service bulletins, and technical orders, develop training curricula, and provide feedback on performance to management.

Experience interfacing with design engineers, test engineers, and program managers on modification projects.

Ability to develop work packages, schedule resources, and track budgetary constraints for large scale repairs.

FAA A&P license, DoD Certification, or equivalent military qualifications preferred.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
