Job Description
Job Number 729821BR
Description:Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs approximately 114,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products, and services. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is one of four Lockheed Martin business areas.
We are experiencing growth and looking for an RF Calibration Engineer to join our team in Dallas, TX.
The RF Seeker Calibration Engineer is responsible for the calibration, testing, characterization, and performance validation of Radio Frequency (RF) seekers used in radar-guided systems, such as missiles, drones, or other precision-guided munitions. This role ensures that RF seekers (active, semi-active, or passive radar homing systems) meet stringent accuracy, reliability, and performance requirements through precise calibration procedures, data analysis, and troubleshooting in laboratory, anechoic chamber, and field environments.
You will work closely with hardware design, systems engineering, signal processing, and test teams to support development, production, and sustainment of RF seeker technologies.
What You Will Be Doing
• Develop and Execute Calibration Procedures: Design, implement, and optimize calibration methods for RF seekers, including far-field and near-field calibration techniques, antenna pattern measurements, gain/phase calibration, and receiver/transmitter alignment.
• Perform Testing and Characterization: Conduct comprehensive RF testing using equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, and anechoic chamber facilities. Verify seeker performance parameters like sensitivity, dynamic range, beamforming accuracy, and target tracking.
• Data Analysis and Modeling: Analyze calibration data to identify discrepancies, model error sources (e.g., temperature effects, misalignment, delay variations), and develop compensation algorithms or lookup tables to improve seeker accuracy.
• Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose hardware, firmware, or software issues affecting seeker performance and collaborate on corrective actions.
• Support Production and Field Activities: Establish production calibration processes, train technicians, and support field deployments or flight testing as needed. Develop automated test scripts and calibration fixtures to improve efficiency and repeatability.
• Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed calibration records, generate reports and certificates, ensure compliance with standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025, MIL-STD), and contribute to technical documentation and configuration management.
• Innovation and Improvement: Research and evaluate new calibration technologies, tools, and methods to reduce time/cost while enhancing seeker performance. Support algorithm development for signal processing and calibration in radar seekers.
Travel up to 20% may be required.
